What are we defining as low end? I would say 1,500 to 4,000

There's not much boost being made on a centri at those ranges, and the power isn't much more than stock. Especially when you compare it to a PD, it's not even in the same zip code down there. Look at the ESS dyno chart before, you're only making 50 torque more than the non-boosted car. Zzzz...

Might be easier to see if you compare two graphs. Centri is far far behind and doesn't match it until about 5k

Not sure where that first dyno chart came from but it looks like a drawing lol
That first dyno graph is from my car running the canned whipple tune on 93 fuel. 🙂 I can assure you it’s not a drawing.

Coyote loves the boost in all forms. I can tell you the whipple on the street with a stick car is loads of fun. Pretty good at the track too!

As much as I love the sound and simplicity of the procharger im thinking the pd is the way to go

Im leaning towards the vmp kit. Comes with a fuel pump booster, round throttle body, degas bottle, gloss black finish and their tuning

I'm not sure how much more "simple" a centrifugal is. A little bit faster to install because you don't remove the intake manifold, but not that much. Belt change are more complicated. And then you have intercooler piping that a PD doesn't have.

A whipple looks a lot more stock under the hood IMO

No additional cooling system on the centri. Just the blower, piping and air to air intercooler. But ya i agree

You can compare the heat exchanger for the PD to the intercooler on the centri. Have to remove the bumper to install either. Easier to route hoses than pipes.

But then you have intercooler pipes/clamps to blow off.

I would imagine the centri would be easier on the engine overall due to no massive increase in low end torque. But a lot of that is how you personally drive it.

Any reliability issues with the gen 6 whipple? I know whipple had a lot of qc problems with the 5

Im no expert but have been doing the same research as you after all I've seen from other people, the shop I talked to as well as my tuner im saving for a tvs supercharger ( roush or vmp)over a twin screw (whipple) best of luck man but before you buy anything id reach out to whatever tuner u plan on using discuss what you want out of the car and maybe they can help u make your final decision

I was going to go the vmp route so vmp would do the tuning

VMP as in Whipple?
I know your a big centri guy. What's your take on the boost coming on so late in the powerband? Looks like a p1x wouldn't start pulling hard till like 5500

I suppose it seems that way on paper, but isn't an issue in WOT scenarios. The PD is Def stronger when lugging the engine in the lower rpms, but when is anyone really doing that? PD has a big CID engine feel, where centri has a big coyote feel. What feel are you looking for? Power for power the two systems will run relatively the same numbers. Honestly not going to go wrong boosting a coyote with any system.

If you want the "feeling" of power just for driving around, low RPM situations, do a PD blower. Torque is what gives the feeling of power and speed, but Horsepower is what wins races.

Generally, when people are telling you that the Centri power is lazy and doesn't come on until xxx RPM, is because they are running a giant pulley, and not using the engine as it was intended. (and probably running pump gas) Ford built the Coyote to rev, and this is why it pairs so well with a Centri.

I would personally argue that a Centri car on the street, with street tires, is faster and safer than a PD car with the same amount of boost - the reason for this is that instant torque is only as good as your traction allows. If you can't put the power down, it doesn't matter how much you have. The Centri delivers this power in a much more manageable way, and makes more and more power as the engine and vehicle speed increase. I have no problem spinning the tires whenever I want, and the relatively "low" amount of torque is still plenty to overwhelm my 345's whenever I tell it to.

If you are just looking to be/feel fast from stop light to stoplight, do a PD blower.
If you aren't afraid to spin up the motor, keep it in the higher RPM range, and not be the next cars and coffee crowd destroyer, go with a Centri.

Im of the opinion that boost and a stock Coyote shouldn't even be considered without running E85. a 12:1 motor on pump gas and boost is just a recipe for disaster, and really doesn't tap into anywhere near potential, and safety that alcohol provides. If you can't run E85, then so be it but the advantages far outweigh the drawbacks - Especially on a stock motor.
