All input appreciated. Ive been stewing for awhile. Have a 23 mach 1 with the handling pack. Centri easy to install, sounds cooler, runs cooler. Pd torque is king, more work to install and can be less reliable. Anything anyone wants to add. Big investment just want to do it right

PD especially if you are sticking with the stock rear end ratio. Rpms drop a ton between shifts

The mach does have a 3.73 standard but that is a solid point

I was in the same dilemma until I drove a 6 speed GT with a Wippel, I didn't like it...too hard to manage the imediate boost for my admittedly meager driving skills...so I went centi on my Bullitt, much "easier" to manage the power which is linear and comes in "softly" higher up in rev range...I run an ESS G3X with a G4 Intercooler, GT500 injectors and a 93 Wingard tune on a 120 pully...works real good with no issues.

What kind of power are you putting down with that setup?

As for power, I have no idea as I don't have access to a dyno anywhere near me but my best guess is 650 to 700 which more than enough for a "street" car...however if more is required/desired it's only a pully swap, high volume fuel pump and a retune away...which is why I went with the G3, plenty of room to grow.

Happy Turkey Day

Where in the rpm range does your g3x start pulling hard

Just don't...floor it?

The centri cars are going to feel a lot closer to stock below 4500rpm (aka laggy and gutless) while the PD car will always have the power

Honestly you should drive both (if you have mustang friends with both cars) to get an idea how they feel.

I went ESS (see sig for details) to avoid low RPM traction issues. It's easy to drive below 4000 rpm and as @Beaujangles said, pulls like a freight train above. Installed myself, total cost around $8K. It's a tradeoff of cost/install/drivability/weight vs less low end torque.

When we were finalizing the tune, Wengerd asked for a WOT to redline data log in any gear. I was never able to do it - the tires break loose in 2nd gear around 5500-6000 rpm no matter what I tried to do to stop it. I even tried putting weight in the trunk and doing it up a steep hill. It might work in 3rd but I have nowhere where I could go that fast.

I had the same issues and ended up doing the pulls in either 4th or 5th gear for traction. Made the mistake of trying to log it in 6th before realizing the speed at 7,500 in 6th! LOL

A good tuner can soften PD mid and/or low end torque using spark timing or even torque or load limiters (throttle). So if “too much” torque is an issue you can always fix that through tuning. Then if you decide later you want “all the torques” you can have the tuner get rid of the limits.

Not long ago I turned my midrange timing down to 18 deg mid, ramping up to 21 at 7000, and I was surprised by how much torque it lost. And unhappy; 5th gear felt weak to me…and this is at 18 psi. I wound up turning the timing back up to get my midrange pull back.
