2018 ecoboost. Yes u can clean the engine bay with water. I covered the fuse box and battery. Also very important the electronic power steering rack is located directly under the crankshaft pulley/balancer and the main big pig tail plug is right in the path of your water hose or power

washer so I stuffed 2 t shirts all over the top of it and ecespecially where the connection is. Used garriots engine cleaner and hosed it off really good and then used air compressor to blow it all of. It came out super clean. And my power steering is good. Some dude said you can't use water. I call bull shit. I also blew all the pig tail connections with air aswell no problem.

I wash them all the time with water. Just try not to use the pressure washer in electrical connection areas. I don't cover anything but air filters if they are exposed. No issues at all..

I’ve never covered anything. I just don’t go blasting any connections I see, and I use a scrubber and APC then hose with softer setting

Pump sprayer does well for engine cleaning too.

This process worked very well for me.

I only covered the air filter and the big plug. No pressure washer, just a flex hose, brass twist nozzle, a spray bottle for the Koch Chamie Green Star cleaner, and a pump bottle for the Koch Chemie Active Foam. The Koch Chemie Motorplast is an amazing finishing touch.

Yeah, I just make sure I go for a drive after washing it to get it hot to dry off all the water.

Sorta for me. I always do the engine first. Clean good, then use Koch Chemie Motorplast. Then I shut the hood and start the car and let it run while I do the tires and wheels which takes me anywhere from 10-20 minutes. Then I shut the car off and finish washing. After I am done, I always open the hood anyway to let the hood vents drip out all their water, so I touch up the drips and puddles then :)

I was terrified the first time. I still do trash bag and double towel around the filter but I'm getting better in the anxiety department (=

That's the last thing I would be worried about. All your electrical connections, fuse box and the electric power steering. U don't want to get that stuff wet bro

No offense to you, but you do realize most of that stuff gets wet when you drive the car, in the rain? Especially the power steering, its under the car :) Just saying... Ford does a pretty good job making things resistant to water. I don't purposely spray water into connectors, I just try to rinse off the soap thoroughly, and do avoid the fuse box and battery area but anything lower is good to go..
