I like to disassemble things.
My understanding is the chassis is just a modified S650 aka 95% S550 chassis. Isn't it also fundamentally the same transmission, too, just packaged and configured as a rear -mounted transaxle? Plus obviously the in-board rear suspension complements
The chassis is a heavily modified shell. The GT500 DCT is substantially different than the transaxle version used in the GTD. The SLA front and pushrod rear suspension are completely different than what was used in the GT500.

I struggle with that given spring rates are close beyond what results in a minor difference in ride height, front sway bars are the same and the CFTP rear bar is 1mm larger in diameter. Damper differences are minute as well.
Yeah I mean when you say it like that it does seem a little odd but I've had both versions and put about 8000 miles on each. The the CFTP feels so much more put together especially in the rear. Maybe I'm splitting hairs and the difference is not measurably (if it were instrumented) as large as I perceive it to be. Could be tires and wheels. The base wheels are something like twice the weight of the carbon rims and PS4s are not Cup2s.

So a video of him trying to justify his purchase? The GTD is embarrassing for a $400k car.

I liked the video, but it wasn't a comparison. In order to be a comparison, the items have to be similar to each other and have some commonality.
The only thing in common with these two cars was that they were cars with the Ford name on them.
He was just trying to justify spending so much money on a Mustang.

I try not to judge what a persons intentions are until I've got all the facts. In this case, the biggest fact that I can find is that he has plenty of money to spend on expensive cars.
Sit back and enjoy the show.

What’s so embarrassing about the car other than maybe the weight? The performance is pretty impressive in spite of the weight. His money and his car, who cares if he made a video of it. I like these kinds of videos, for some people it may be their only chance to see these types of cars. Only embarrassing thing I see is your comment

He just did a 2 part series between his GTD and a C8 ZR1 as well. Need to watch the videos still but the couple clips I’ve seen look pretty cool

There are actually fairly major changes from the A pillar forward, and the B pillar back. The passenger "TUB" starts out as production stampings. But they get modified, too. The doors / door openings I'm not as sure about. Those are a bunch of BIG stamping tools.

The DCT guts are probably close to the C8, which bears similar DNA with the GT500 box.
