One of the union documents supposedly had GT500 in it so I think that’s where the thread name came from. Other social media people have also been referring to it as a possible GT500. Problem is, Ford did not renew their licensing agreement with Shelby, so they have no rights to the GT500 name for S650.Better re-name the thread then
Not a GT500, so doesn't need to be supercharged.GT500 has been supercharged for the last 18 years I doubt they drop that
The 670hp (?) NA 5.5 C8 Z06 is still in production it's only been out a year
Supposedly going to be named the Zora and it’s been spotted out at the Ring for testing. I’ve seen reports that it’s going to have an electric component based off the E-Ray but will also have the TT’s from the ZR1. Some people have said it may also be AWD, not sure on that if they’re using the ZR1 as the platform to build off of. Body styling looks very similar to the ZR1, so my guess is the powertrain will be the main differentiatorwhatever they're developing above the ZR1
They just need to make a phone call then. One of the union documents supposedly had GT500 in it so I think that’s where the thread name came from. Yea should be able to fit.the battery pack down the middle and the frivw motor up front still with the ZR1 architecture that currently exists. Should be an absolute monster.Supposedly going to be named the Zora and it’s been spotted out at the Ring for testing. I’d be surprised if Ford renewed the license at this point. Given the Dark Horse name and GTD name, Ford hasn’t shown much interest in using names of old. Although, the rumor is the Boss name is in the mix, Dark Horse Boss is a name I’ve seen floated around. They just need to make a phone call then.
Shelby isn't interested anymore, hence why they just release a "new' S650 based Shelby GT350 and summarily got ahit on for it being just another Coyote/Whipple combo again. They just need to make a phone call then.
They can't make an engine that is overshadowed by a similar engine from Chevy. Not a GT500, so doesn't need to be supercharged.
The Z06 uses a completely different engine to the base C8, even more different than the Voodoo was to the Coyote. Given Ford's financials I dont see them developing an entirely new engine to compete on the hp/liter level of the Z06. The Z06 engine was developed as the basis for thr Z06, ZR1, whatever they're developing above the ZR1, and thr Corvette GT3 race car. Ford on the other hand just uses a custom 5.4 liter version of the Coyote in their GT3 car.
Also Mustangs have never been built to compete with Corvettes and I wouldn't expect them to now.
I think it’s mutual, I don’t think Ford is interested in using historical nameplates anymore eitherShelby isn't interested anymore, hence why they just release a "new' S650 based Shelby GT350 and summarily got ahit on for it being just another Coyote/Whipple combo again.
What are you basing that on? A 5.4L cross plane crank engine has nothing in common with a 5.5L flat plane crank engine. Ford has 0 problem not trying to play "keeping up with the Jones'" with a Corvette priced at double what a Mustang costs. They can't make an engine that is overshadowed by a similar engine from Chevy.
I can't see anything from a GT3 making it to production either
They are 5.4 and 5.5, low displacement (compared to the old 7.0 Corvette or Godzilla), high RPM DOHC engines. Crank has nothing to do with it.What are you basing that on? Also we obviously wouldn't get the fully dry aumped GT3 race engine, but if they can bore the Coyote out to 5.4 and still make 500+hp through miniscule restrictions, it could probably make good power on a wet sump system and no restrictions.
Crank has evetything to do with rpm, and horspower is just a function of torque x rpm, so if youre chasing hp numbers then the crank matters. Ford kneecapped the Voodoo by not making it a traditional FPC and that limited its rpm somewhat and its hp as well as by forcing it to retain the single TB and single intake manifold. They are 5.4 and 5.5, low displacement (compared to the old 7.0 Corvette or Godzilla), high RPM DOHC engines. They atart at 114k but they go to 130 -160k pretty quickly. If this stays NA with a DCT it shouldn't be more than about 10-15k more than a current Dark Horse. The Z06 MSRP starts at $114k, how much does you think the GT500 (or whatever they are going to call it) is going to cost?
And what's the double the price you're talking about?
There's noboroduction NA 5.2 currently and thats just a slight increase over the 5.0 currently in production. Ford is already building the GTD as a link to their GT3 racing program, but its price makes it super rare. The 5.4 and a DCT would be a lower level race track prepped related version of the 5.4 and sequential equipped GT3 racecar for the "common man".Why bother going to 5.4?
The 5.0 in the dark horse makes 500 and the 5.2 would do it easily.
Exactly what I've been saying. Another Predator in a "GT500" would be the same old recipe. A normally aspirated 5.4....ooof. I think that's the plan along with it being limited availability, even more so than the GTD. So yup, absolutely retarded pricing at your local dealer. The 5.4 and a DCT would be a lower level race track prepped related version of the 5.4 and sequential equipped GT3 racecar for the "common man".
