Your "wild ass guess" is incorrect, I have over 30 years in a Specracer Ford (an SCCA class), over 150 racing weekend events, including sprint races, 4 / 6 / 13 and even 3 24 hours enduros. The car will run for ~60 minutes.

I agree that the car is too heavy, but this is what it is, take it or leave it. Im buying one, and will enjoy it for what it is.

To me the GTD is a street car. If I wanted a mustang track car, I would be buying a GT3 / 4, 302R, or another flavor of of a dedicated race car. Lighter, potentially faster, and better on consumables. I have several other FAST street cars, and have tracked them, sure fun, but not the same as a real racecar.
Curious if you’ve also looked into the Dark Horse R at all?

Just for clarification. You’re stating the Gtd will run for 60 minutes with a 16 gallon tank. Street and track?

For now I'm mostly retired as a driver. Our sons are taking the baton, and I'm the support. But yes DHR I should have included as an available Mustang option.

MOST certainly not. The person I quoted, inquired as to how long our race cars will run on track. 16 gallons seems to be a major issue for some, not me.

Gotcha. Thanks. It’s not an issue for me either, but I do get Toms issue. It would sure be nice if Multi-matic had a setup that would be available for those that would like to track It.

I sense you may see track only intended hardware from MM in the near future.
Roll bar? race seats? 6pt harness?

If so then its a step in the right direction.

If you really believe this, don't go back and look at the GT350 threads from 2015....CF this, ceramic that, LOL

I know, two different companies/applications, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Along those lines, yes.

Apples to light bulbs?

I was around in 2015, and had a GT350. That said...uh, what?

Sorry, I've been researching info on the Voodoo too much the last day or so, and came across a thread from 2015 where folks were saying the R would have ceramic brakes, more CF panels, CF drive shaft, more power, all sorts of things.

It was actually a pretty fun read. That old thread reminds me of the 7.3 Godzilla threads on other sites.

Anyways, my bad, I digress.

They did test with carbon brakes and found them unnecessary to meet the goals that were set for the program. The CF shaft made sense given its use on the '13/'14 GT500 but in the end just didn't happen. In my opinion it was due to cost as the team really tried hard to keep the price point as low as possible. Looking back, I think too many corners were cut with respect to the engine and I'd rather they would have stuck with a 5.2 CPC if they weren't going to go all out out to mitigate vibration-related issues.

The big one for me was the CF wheels. I always believed it to be poppycock that the cost of them would come down and it never did. I laughed when Larry Holt pretty much agreed here...

Anyway, I see a rather large difference between the GT350 program and the GTD. Again, I was speaking to the fact that I believe that some race only parts will likely show up and that should sit well with GTD owners that wish to track. That has no relevance to anything GT350 related.

Clarify for me. Are you saying the cf drive shaft didn’t make it on the car as for cost savings? If that’s the case, on a 325k base price, that’s a little troubling. I’d imagine a regular aluminum is 3-400$ to the oem and the cf being 7-800$. The Gtd was suppose to have the magnesium wheels, any idea if that stayed. Completely agree about cost of those and the R or Cftp wheels coming down. Random. Was looking at the Multi-matic bronco here in Moab few days ago. Very cool, but I did ‘t see a 400k vehicle. I can’t speak for others but I need to see an actual production car before I make an educated decision.

No, no. He was talking about the somewhat rampant speculation as to what equipment was thought to have been chosen for the then upcoming, 2015 GT350. A CF driveshaft was one of those items that didn't make the cut. The GTD is absolutely getting a CF driveshaft, that of the '20-'22 GT500.

The Gtd was suppose to have the magnesium wheels, any idea if that stayed.
I was told by some that have finalized their GTD orders that there is no option to get a magnesium wheel on a GTD for 2025. The concierge made it clear - they are unavailable. I asked around and was told the winning bidder for the wheel contract bit off a bit more than they could chew. I'd love to know the entire story.

Race Red GTD in the wild. Can’t tell if those are magnesium wheels (which are unobtanium) or if Ford is going forged aluminum in the same design? Tob @Epiphany any idea on the wheels?

Any idea if it’s a manufacturer tag. Can’t tell.
