Would the car still see IAT2 (prior to the cylinder) since the E85 isn't cooling anything yet and thus pull timing? Just a random thought in my head.
The IAT2 won't change much but you have to ask...why do we not like high charge temps? On pump gas, the high charge temps directly cause knock so you can't run much spark timing. When you do a flex or E85 calibration, you add to or max out the borderline [knock limited] timing, so you can run 21 or 22 deg [MBT] timing, while on pump gas you might be limited to 14 or 15. These 5-6 deg timing can be 100+ hp. With a PD blower, you don't get any more airflow by improving intercooling. That's why I say the interchiller is really not that beneficial on E85.

Can't speak for dfw but I'm Florida and it hasn't affected my cabin at all. With it cooling both chiller and cabin my iats are below ambient cruising, 5-10f below. With it on the chiller only I see 30f below ambient.

I've been running my ac on auto too which isn't optimal for the chiller because it turns the condensor on and off.

Get the chiller, you'll never worry about iats again.
@CarDad29 I was seeing similar IATs before installing the chiller. I now see similar chilled IATs as @acemastr. I posted some details here: #148

Go with the stage 2 kit if you decide to pull the trigger on an interchiller kit. My stage 1 kit takes slightly longer to initially cool the cabin on hot days.

The problem I found is even on E85 two well known tuners still pull timing at 140-150 IAT2s.... The car is still much faster on E85 than pump gas. Find a tuner who will not pull timing at those IAT2s temps or install an interchiller.

How substantial are these gains when worrying about IAT2? I have done multiple 1/4 and 1/3 mile runs and have never had any issues with heat soak. I do have Roush's cooling kit and use Boostane at the track. Did seven 1/4 mile runs in a row at the end of one day. IAT2 was about 150 at the line and 120 going down the track.

I’m completely shocked your whip didn’t blow up as soon as you started down the line at the track…these Roush kits heat soak so much…what a terrible kit…:sunglasses:

I got stuck in the lanes for ages and the IATs started at 129f at the beginning of the run and ended at 165f. That was when I knew I needed to do something.

Quick question for those who have phenolic spacers on the 2018+ 2650.

The right cylinder bank has 2 alignment pins. Are there clearance holes in your spacer or were the pins removed from the Roush IM?

I managed to pull one of the pins out(with much force) but the second wouldn't budge. I drilled the spacer, it's only delrin

Awesome thanks! I'll be drilling my spacers. Could you confirm if the IM pins are pressed in or did you see retaining compound residue on the one you pulled? I'd be tempting to replace them with 10 mm longer if they're removable.

Just pressed in, at least the one that I got out was, the other refused lol. It's surprisingly easy to line it all up without the pins though

Seems like the best spot for it...
For those who don't have an IC Chiller or similar setup; what's your "normal" IAT2 readings?

Past summer my car was approaching 180s°F when in school pick-up lines etc, and in the fall I realized there was very little movement of the water in the chargers reservoir. Even at sub 60°F ambient temps, it was holding 120-130s°F IAT2 and would hit 160 by top of 3rd or middle of 4th gear pulls.

I had a VMP triple pass heat exchanger installed along with a GT500 pump. Cruising temps seemed to stay around 110-120s IAT2 through winter, but as we're hitting mid 70s and low 80s °F ambient, it's back to 120-130 while cruising, sitting in traffic getting into the 150s. 15 minutes into a drive to work and temps will be around 120s IAT2 ~60°F ambient, and hitting 145°F IAT2 lower part of 4th gear doing a 2-3-4 pull.

Not exactly a crazy stir, but you can see movement of the coolant in the reservoir so I don't believe the pump is failed, but the coolant temp in there "feels" colder than my finger (I've gotten pretty good at guessing 120-130 range by touch from running in equipment bearings, this is much cooler than that).

Is what I'm experiencing just "normal" for this crappy design? Has whomever signed off on the small brick been kicked in the nuts yet? Anybody near DFW running an IC chiller mind sharing if they noticed significant loss of cooling for the cabin in the peak heats (humid 100°F+ days)?

Squeeze the IC hose hose between the T's below your Degas bottle. Then you will see the water swirling like crazy. You wont see much otherwise. I had same issues and was taught how to do that.

The Jokerz/PWR intercooler brick has visible waterflow improvements. Looks to have 3 extra water passages and a less restrictive fin design in the water passages.

But doesn't something like the Whipple basically have two intercoolers that size?
