Stymee should be proud of this thread
I don't have a Mustang any longer, but I still come back to lurk more than a normal person would admit!
Just an update that doesn't belong here or anywhere else for that matter... I'm about to spend what two Roush kits and installation would cost on upgrading my 2024 Corolla GR. I took out the stock clutch with too many launches at the drag strip, so I figured fuck it. Time for more power since my aftermarket clutch voided my transmission warranty
. That little 1.6L 3 cylinder is not good for much more than stock power (300hp) without a few upgrades so why stop with Valve springs?!?
Valve springs, rocker retainers, cams, head studs, pistons, rods, bigger turbo, Aventuri Intake, Jackson FMIC, downpipe, full exhaust and dyno tuned. The motor will be good for 700hp afterwards but will only be tuned for 400whp because my transmission is going to need a rebuild and new hub, syncro's and gears. Next year when I tune it for E85 I guess. My wife put the brakes on the transmission after I told her what it cost for the first round of upgrades.
Called a few shops here in the land of the sun and no one would take the work. Said it was too new. Soooo.... I'm driving it to Chicago in a few weeks to drop it off for surgery. Even though I'm spending about the cost of a loaded Corolla SE on my Corolla GR, I still have about $30k to go before I match what I spent on the Mustang. (Yeah... I spent around $100k on the Mustang before trading it.. Well... I guess Geico spent the $14k on the replacement engine that had VCT/Phaser issues)
Just to keep this relevant to this thread. I'm still the only person I know of to blow up a Gen 3 motor with a Roush kit on it so maybe I learned my lesson? Wait... What was the question?
