No one has any information on these?
No one is using either one?

I've been using this style for the last several seasons. It seats well, stays in-place, has never leaked. I have no reason to change or upgrade.

The newer style listed above, I wonder how well they hold in-place? No tangs or tabs that I can see?

Edit,

I noticed from one video they mention a "wave washer", which keeps tension like a split-ring washer.

I have an earlier style (UPR 3025-01) plug and plan to stay with it. It has a magnet, which the OEM plug lacked. So why not a Quarter Turn or Speed Drain plug?

I prefer removing a plug to drain out as much oil and sediment possible before refilling my crankcase. (If you'll notice, the Quarter Turn and the Speed Drain have oil exit openings inside the pan are at a higher plane than the drain pan's lower drain opening).

One other thought....Not all sediment collecting in the bottom of a pan is ferrous in nature. I prefer to get potential non-iron based contaminates out of the lubrication system as well.

It sure looks slick. I wonder why UPR decided to make revisions.

Lot's of discussion on this topic in the 350 section. You can read away, but I think the main take away from the topic is that this is one area where the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" may serve you well. Too much of a mix of people with bad luck and good luck. Some actual failures and dumping all the oil do exist.

I've used the Fumoto Ball Valve on one of my older cars. I really like it. The down side with the Fumoto on the Ecoboob 'stang is that the drain plug is recessed into the oil pan. Fumoto offers a few things to adapt the valve but I haven't bought in for the 'stang yet. The Fumoto valve makes taking a sample for oil analysis WAY easier than trying to snatch a sample using just the drain plug.

If you have to have your oil changed at a garage you also have to remember to let them know how the valve works. I've had to do it a time or 2 on my older car that had the valve installed.

Fumoto is awesome and I have it on every car I own that has a threaded oil drain plug. But apples and oranges. You can't compare a Fumoto valve to this style valve which attemps to replace the big yellow quick-turn style drain plug.

My '15 Stang has a threaded drain plug. Are the drain plugs on the newer stangs NOT threaded?

Not sure when it changed, but no, they are not. Coyote mustangs and trucks have a quarter turn/cam lock slyle plastic drain plug. Don't fret tho, it works. It's solid. As I mentioned eaerlier, the only failures I know of in this new style drain plug is with aftermarket ones.

Thanks. I didn't realize the drain plugs were subject to the rampant creep of technology. Who knew?

The 5.0 got the composite oil pan with the yellow drain plug starting with the 2018 model year.

I use old yellow style and swap them out once in a while and always carry an extra for me or someone else (just in case). Last trip to dealer to pick one up a parts guy said I could just go to our local hydraulic place and pick up the same o ring and replace. There are probabaly millions in use. Don t need to re invent the mouse trap IMO. I was afraid of some failures of other products. A personal choice for sure. Interesting.
