I need to replace at least the short block on my 2018 Gen III Supercharged Coyote, due to wadding up one of the high flow cats. Any know if I can swap in this Gen IV Long block? The pricing seems very reasonable.

I "think" the heads and cam control changed again.

Sorry I don't have a real answer. The short block will work.

You should be able to with not much problem. Ford offers the Gen4x engine paired with the Gen3 control pack which works in earlier cars.

Subscribed. A Dark Horse short block would be an awesome upgrade for nearly all of us if the need arises.

How is a Darkhorse short block any different than a Gen3 or Gen4? (aside from the oil pan) I don't think the bottom end is any different, but I could be wrong.

They have forged Predator rods I know for sure. Seemed like there were other small things but I can't recall them right now, it's been a long time since I read the differences.

Intake phasers are different so I don’t know how that would integrate.

Just spoke with Ford Performance Tech on Installing the M-6006-M50DH Long Block. He thought it may be possible and would research it for me. He requested I shoot them a Email and he would discuss it with the Tech Team. I will post any information I receive on this swap

As mentioned the rods are different, and if they can handle a supercharged 5.2 they seem pretty beefy. Also the block is a new casting and with revised cooling jackets so should be able to hold more power.

The 24 mustang engine has way more in common with the Gen3 than the 21+ f-150 engine.
