Why not go after the vendor who sold the wheel?

I'd say shop for some new wheels. I recommend velgen or RTR, maybe lmr's SVE series (lmr offers sone decent wheel/tire packages) if you want a quality wheel and a company that stands behind the product. Sorry this happened though. It could have been alot worse.

Yes sir, been looking around for a while for a new set of wheels and bouncing back and forth with what I'm actually looking for. While I won't be dropping 5k for a set of forged wheels, they'll be quality.

And 100% agreed that it could have been worse, I need to count my blessings and take my wins when I can.

Apex also makes some great wheels. Their forged wheels are reasonably priced too if you do want to go the forged route.

305/30r20's, those tires can be difficult to install. I don't trust ANYONE. We don't know if they put someone who isn't familiar and tries to muscle the tire on with the tire spoon instead of having good technique. Or the wheel was already defective, but some work with the tire spoon had worsened it. Either way, there's a lesson to be learned with all this. Inspect wheels just as much as we inspect tires. Especially these aftermarket wheels. IMO they're all junk unless you're spending big money on a set.

Perhaps that is why OEM wheels are comparatively more expensive than aftermarket’s? Speaking in a general sense here. The OEM has a bigger wallet to go after when claims arise (and an entire staff of lawyers). For a street car there is little to be gained as far as safety and performance. Most of the gain is appearance. For a race car, most likely, there won’t even be consideration made of cheap wheels. And, again, I am speaking in general terms. I am sure there are folks out there with cash to burn on their street car and race teams on a shoestring budget.

I bet it has a lot to do with quality control in chinese factories. Those chinese factories will take a contract, send you a good batch of product to look good, then try sending you s**t. OE manufacturers have excellent connections in china, lots of lawyers, and buy in bulk. So they are working with the top factories that only take large contracts. But this is all an educated guess of mine.

EDIT: I've been looking for wheels for my car and I research a lot. All the manufacturers have at least some issues with damaged new products because the factories aren't doing their quality control. Then it gets passed to the consumer. Seems like they're all quick to replace them, but imagine leaving QC to the customer? What if there is some crack in the casting? Who really inspects new wheels? It's up to the customer to do QC.

The wheels were already on the car when I bought it, they were put on back in 2017. I got the car in 2021.
Ok. I was under the impression you just bought the wheels and had them mounted.

Oh time to chime in , what's up red . Lol . After looking at the tire in person , there is no indication of an impact. Sorry I didn't see any bruising on the carcas of the tire . I didn't get a good at the rim , you didn't bring it . All said is that , wheel failed , in my opinion, I mean my ass , it was not caused by an Impact . Crap wheels or improper install , hell I'm off to laughlin in a few days , want me to drop 20 on black 7 for you. Let's get this thing up and going , might have a set of Velgens to off load . Just have to see how laughlin goes. Lol
