Just a data point...I learned the car that ran at the Ring didn't have the Magnesium wheels. The supply issue on them is that serious. It should have them on the next run.

Do you know what kind of wheels they were running? I’m assuming they were materially heavier than the Magnesium wheelsJust a data point...I learned the car that ran at the Ring didn't have the Magnesium wheels. The supply issue on them is that serious. It should have them on the next run.
I wonder if the GT3RS that ran faster than the GTD had the Weissach package with the magnesium wheels.Just a data point...I learned the car that ran at the Ring didn't have the Magnesium wheels. The supply issue on them is that serious. It should have them on the next run.
Good question. I would assume yes but would also be curious to know if anyone has that info.I wonder if the GT3RS that ran faster than the GTD had the Weissach package with the magnesium wheels.
I can't say how much heavier the aluminum wheels were but there is absolutely a savings with the mag version. Then again, the car had a cage, lighter seats, and likely a fire suppression system of sorts. Hard to know where they were with weight on that day. Ford needs open up about the weight of this behemoth and quit playing games.Do you know what kind of wheels they were running? I’m assuming they were materially heavier than the Magnesium wheels

I don’t know if it’s changed that I’m aware of but when you say late 2024/early 2025 they better be pretty darn close to what they’re thinking about.I’d like to know specs as well. I don’t think Ford’s playing games though. I don’t think they’re a hundred percent on what the car spec will actually be for production yet.

3,700ish lbs actually wouldn’t be all that bad. From another source:
3800 pounds on the trackbthat day. That might put the GTD street version in the 3700 range
Obviously not good enough. All kidding aside, this circus side show doesn't mean anything until they get out there next spring after having time to regroup and get optimal conditions for both the car and track. Keep in mind, this isn't Ford's back yard. It is a major undertaking to do what they have done halfway across the world.3,700ish lbs actually wouldn’t be all that bad.
Oh no doubt. Porsche has the upper hand here for sure. It’s in their backyard, they’ve run multiple models on the Ring for decades. Not to mention the GT3RS is smaller and lighter. I was hoping but wasn’t really expecting Ford to beat Porsche on their first official lap time. They’ll chip away at it, and if they can only shave ~5 seconds off their time, so be it. Still impressive in my book.Obviously not good enough. Respect to the FP team and MM. Sometimes things just don't come together.
oooooo, spicy…I like it!I wonder if they sandbagged the lap using weather as an excuse.
