What’s up all, just looking for opinions regarding louvers for a 2023 Mach 1,
They look really sharp on older fastback models 69-71 ish, what do you think of the modernized louver look,
Thanks

LoL. My friend and I were racing one day as stupid kids, and you should have seen the rear louvers come flying off my friends 79 Camaro on the highway. They bounced and shattered all over and broke in pieces when they hit the median. It was quite epic. :cwl:

It's a nice throwback touch from the days when dark tint was not avail. If you like them go for it. I like with and without.

They’re great if you’re not going fast routinely. I took mine off because they’d always flutter and make a racket over triple digits. It’s entirely possible that I didn’t mount the louver 100% centered or maybe it was the particular one I had and a different brand wouldn’t flutter. I felt like they did make a difference during summer keeping the car cool if you park outside.

I had sides on my '19 and I have them to put on the M1 when I get to FL but I won't do the back.

You talking about the quarter window louvers or rear window louver?

Rear window is ok. But I personally think the quarter window louvers look hideous on the S550 and M1 especially. To me it's just a dated aesthetic that was popular on the S197 (which looked much better). They kill the lines of the S550 and just look like cheap stick on bling to me. I saw a Twister Orange M1 at a car show over the weekend with those, and all the guys I was with commented on how stupid they looked. But to each there own. 🤷‍♂️

My opinion (remember that) is rear window only (not 1/4 windows) and louvers made out of aluminum only. I think the plastic ones look cheap and hideous whilst the aluminum ones mimick the old '69-'70 fastbacks. Each louver is flat and doesn't look like a hunk of plastic they milled slots in.

I have thought about the aluminum rear louvers but I can't decide. I have the side louvers and like the look.

This is great lol. I had a set on my 2nd gen Camaro back in the day as well, and they were aluminum. I hopped off of a curb, they bounced just righhhhht…..smashed the back glass clear out. Ironically enough, the louvers stayed put for the ride home….no glass 🥸

Rear, not a fan of the sides, imo

You asked for opinions... If you like em, go ahead and do it. The aluminum ones on the 69 - 71 look wonderful because it fits the body style. The S550 is too smooth to stick on something jagged looking. Oh, and I havent seen a set of plastic louvers that would look good on anything. Especially those bent curvy ones that look like they've been out in the sun too long. Ew.

Personally, I like the aluminum ones that I installed. They keep the back window shaded, and in my opinion do add to the retro look. I am not a fan of the plastic ones that I have seen. Downsides, aluminum louvers are pricy, and you have to remove them each time you wash the car to get the back window clean, and the aluminum doesn't hold paint well, so I am constantly touching up the edges.
