Hey guys, does anyone knows a link of a shop where I can get all internals to rebuild a MT82 D4? Cause I have look for it but I can only find for 11-17 gen which I don’t know if those same internals work for 18+ generation

You can get synchros here.

https://sync-trans.com/products/syn-d4-carbon-synchro-set-1-6-r-mustang-mt82-d4-2018

Reverse shift fork pads here.

For all other internal parts (gears, bearings, seals, and detent pins etc.), Levittown Ford Parts or Tasca Parts. Unfortunately, finding billet aluminum shift forks nowadays seems to be impossible. The only other option is to have your internals cryogenically treated to strengthen them.

I was one of the fortunate ones to acquire a set of billet shift forks 2 years ago when I did my build.

Do you plan to do your own build? If so, have a look at this thread if you haven’t already, it contains lots of helpful info. If not, M6G member @Spacexguy does rebuilds with upgraded synchros too.

Calimer won’t sell internals unless he does the build. I talked to him about buying his billet gears prior to my build and that’s what he told me.

Many thanks for that plug. That's very kind of you. Yes, I rebuild any year, any model. You hit all the necessary points. In short, only thing you can do to the d4s is upgrade your synchronizers and replace the shift weight delete with calimer shift weight delete plate. And that's it. No gears, no pads, no forks. So as of right now, the smaller builders out there are super limited.

You could try Zumbrota Drivetrain. I've purchased parts for rebuilds of T5s in the past. Their website only shows complete remanufactured gear boxes for newer Mustangs, but if you call them they might have individual parts available as well.

The part that bothers me about deleting the shift weight is that (afaik) we don't know what it does/what it is there to correct. Ford spent a lot of time/effort/$$$ to design and make the part, they must have had a reason.

Apart from the ones that rattle or fall off I haven't had any trouble from mine.

Their prices are crazy expensive for rebuilds and there’s no mention of upgraded synchros or shift forks. The deep clean and blasting of the casing makes it look like new, although they’re still expensive compared to buying a new one from a dealer or Steeda.

Huh. I'm glad you posted about it. They used to be very reasonable for parts anyway. I always did my own rebuilds. I'm just too cheap to pay someone else to do it.

Doing your own would be the best bet, since you’ve rebuilt trannies before. The only problem you might run into is being limited to upgraded synchros and bronze shift fork pads for reverse only.

When I did my rebuild 2 years ago, I was fortunate enough to find billet aluminum shift forks for it at AMP Distributing, but it seems they are no longer readily available. Aside from that, the next best thing you could do to strengthen the internals would be to send them out for cryo treatment.
