I have some questions for members who are using the WOT Box on their MT82-D4 equipped Mustang. Thanks.

1. Do you primarily use it for NLS, 2-step or both?
2. Are you running a catted exhaust?
3. Any problems with damaged cats as a result of using the 2-step?
4. Any reports of bent active exhaust cutout valves from 2-step of NLS?
5. How has your transmission handled the addition of the WOT Box?

-I use mine for 2 step and no lift shift
-I do not have cats but I do have mufflers, headers straight pipe to stock mufflers
-I broke the welds on the baffle in my right muffler when I was nlshifting and it backfired in between shifts
-do not have active exhaust
-didn’t have any issues on the highway roll racing with nls roughly 20 times, went to track and destroyed clutch on third pass
-installed McLeod rxt 1000hp now no issues
🤙🏼

Can you tell me more about how you have yours programmed? What tires, launch rpm and 60’ times? How many ms do you have programmed into the box for NLS? Any chance you can take a pic of your WOT Box software screen, so that I can see how you have it programmed? Lastly, how many miles were on your clutch before it let go? Thanks

I have to plug a laptop in, I don’t remember the settings off top of my head. I know I was able to get the nls to 198ms. I run Mickey Thompson et street r’s 275/50/15s. The clutch broke around 15k, the mileage didn’t necessarily help, but the reason it went out was racing on a track hookin and no lift shifting on a stock clutch. This past weekend I just broke my 3-4 shift fork no lift shifting once again. All this time I thought I had a miracle mt82 since I had broke one in 4 years.

In short NLS Isn’t good on stock trans
That’s not the kind of news I was looking to hear, especially after the installation woes that I encountered with mine. I haven’t gotten To test it out beyond sitting still and checking the 2 Step and watching the LED lights to confirm the state of readiness for the box.

I see that you logged 15K miles before the clutch/tranny went bye, bye. How many launches (and at what RPM) did you make with the WOT Box itself? Did you ever get the upgraded shift forks that reportedly came out in 2019?

I’ve used it on the streets roll racing many times no issues, minor clutch wear, clutch gets hot after awhile pedal is slightly softer, but by the time you get home it’s fine cool and worn down to fresh material
Clutch went after 3 passes at track no lift shifting. Launching around 2500rpm. Track is hard on the clutch it’s sticky you’re hookin and runnin from a dig, when your already rolling on the highway all parts are already moving at high speed making clutch engagement easier.
Does everything seem likes it’s hooked up right from the test?
So it just broke last weekend and I’ve spoken with ford and they said bring it in but they can’t guarantee anything until they look at the car and take pictures of all the aftermarket parts they find and send to Ford for approval or disapproval for the fix luckily I have an Acquaintance that works at a dealership near me and he said That the bolt ons would not be a problem and the hidden wot box wouldn’t either but when I told him it’s got a mcleod rxt in it he said they may not warrantee it. In my mind since it’s been a known issue even for stock cars I figured Ford would cover it regardless. Now I’m just debating whether or not to just get A better transmission and put it in so no one‘s messing with my car. Although a free fix to sell the trans would be nice.

So you broke your trans racing and you think ford is going to cover it under warranty? In my opinion if you mod and race your car you should be prepared to pony up to fix it, it's not the cars fault. If it's stock then fine but in your case far from so. You know what they say, if you wanna play you have to pay

@HeavyHittersMaryland, yes, the 2 step tested satisfactorily. I haven’t driven the car to test the NLS because the car is still on jack stands. In addition to that, I have to test the N2MB nitrous add-on feature, which N2MB worked with me on and provided wiring instructions to integrate it with my Nitrous Outlet ProMax controller, so that it will allow me to spray through shifts. We’ll see how it all shakes out.

I’m surprised you blew through that McLeod RXT clutch. I thought those were what was needed for drag racing.

Doesn't the '18 only' have notoriously weak shift forks that Ford addressed with the 2019 and up ?

I've seen posts on here where Calimer advises against the RXT in MT82 because it destroys transmissions
Well let's be honest here.. any unsprung clutch is usually mated with a non dual mass aftermarket flywheel. And that's when the shitshow happens.

That’s awesome you’re running nitrous!
No I destroyed the stock clutch then I installed a McLeod rxt.
