Let me add by saying that Costco top tier gas/fuel is of quality based on their promise to the members. In fact, most of the Kirkland signature products surpasses the typical house hold name.

Costco receives over 5 tankers per day so the fuel is beyond fresh, never stands around. Most gas stations receive 1 or maybe even 2 tankers if that per day.

I guess we can debate, and it's possibly true about the fuel distributors come from a few sources and the only thing that changes are the additives added by the gas stations (I guess)

As for Costco, I'm just a tad bit biased 😉😉

I always use shell or chevron gas out here. Az is known for crappy gas and those are the two out here that seem to preform the best. All my performance vehicles seem peppier on them and in the mustang they control knock much better than gas from other stations even if the others say top tier.

Does the ecu adjust timing based on fuel quality? Or is this something the Tune/tuner adds? (Is known as fuel logic)? If I said it correctly?
Yes. Ford's logic is very good as long as the tuner doesn't fuck with it too much. The logic will give you more timing up to 95 or 96 octane ... can't remember exactly but it's one of those to octane numbers.

Good to know 👍👍 I think the DA's or temp is the biggest power killer. The only time I noticed a change in power is during extreme hot n humid weather. I keep my tank always full, half way and fill right up (it's not my daily) very doable for me.

my EcoBoost always reported Costco top tier fuel -1.00 which is good quality gas, and sams club non top tier fuel also -1.00 which is as good as it gets for car timing.

those are the only 2 places I get fuel, sams is closer, non top tier, but it works perfectly fine, its half Costco half sams club for my vehicles. no issues.

Maybe I just answered my own question and it may be a dumb question but the gas station I frequent has 4-5 different octanes from 87 to 93 and I’ve always wondered when filling up and having a choice how many tanks are actually in the ground or is there one huge tank with a section for each octane similar to the tanker trucks that deliver the gas?

I suppose it depends on where you are. Here we have 2 fuels for gas, 87 and 93. Any octane number in between is a blend of the 2. Then the station will also have a tank for diesel and some will have a tank for E85

We have shit gas in Ky in the summer. It was crap gas or emissions testing. We voted for crap gas.
Well that's what octane booster is for I guess! But on the other hand some emissions tests can be fudged too. I guess you gotta pick your poison!

Both my Mustang GT's love (loved) Costco Premium and I would occasionally run low and didn't want to make the trip and was always curious about performance differences.

Try as I might I simply can't tell the difference between Costco's premium and the major oil companies' like Shell, Exxon, Mobil, Sunoco etc. premium and, of course, price for premium is waaaaay cheaper at Costco. Here it's $3.74 and usually $.30 to $.70 cheaper than the major oil companies' premium.

I honestly think premium is premium and 103 octane is 103 octane. What I DO think is different is the additives they put in gas and Sam's has crappy gas as does WalMart and many other places.

The detergents in gas make a huge difference in the way engines run in the long run and Costco is rated right up there with the big names and of course they sell more gas (other than Sam's) by far than anyone else around here. You WILL wait in line to buy Costco gas though. Always....

Just one man's opinion after driving Mustang GT's for the past 40k miles.

Our Dept. of Agriculture here in Florida tests gas collected right at the pumps and I got to talk to one of their people that was collecting samples one day and he confirmed what I have said here. He wouldn't say who had the best gas because they all come from the same pipelines and distribution points and the additives were the key.

He DID confirm that the big name oil companies had the best additives and Costco is rated right up with them by the independent labs. It's no joke. The value at the Costco pumps is impossible to beat and the products in their stores are very hard to beat.

Here I can get a Sam's Club membership for $8 per year and Costco is $120 and they're about to go up. That should tell you something about which is more popular. Sams and WalMart are taking a big hit from Costco, Publix, Aldi, Trader Joe's and Dollar General at least around here.
