I have no interest in owning a C8 but I love that they built off the FPC Z06 motor. Ford needs to step up imho. Another variant of the 5.2 in the next halo mustang would be disappointing. They need something new and special. My money is still on the GTD though if these two ever meet on a road course.
I disagree they don’t always have to have a new engine stick to what works and make lots of them.

I’d bet Ford benchmarked the same 😉. We don’t have official specs on GTD but I’m leaning GTD. There’s a big difference between a race car built for street (GTD) vs a street car built for track (ZR1). Both will be phenomenal cars though

I'm in the mindset of Ford being innovated, trying new and exciting things. Sticking with what's tried and true grows old for me. They've been supercharging the halo Mustangs since 03. The 5.2 has been around for almost 10 years. If we're talking about the 5L, the Coyote has been around for almost 15 years.

I'm talking about a Mustang...and they don't make the Ford GT anymore.

Multimatic is building the GTD, they also built the GT so I think they may know a thing or two about racing too. We have no idea what the specs are on GTD. I don’t think either one will eat the others lunch. It will be closer than you think, IMO. 1,000hp doesn’t mean anything if you can’t use it all.

LOL, GTD and GT500 are not the same thing at all. Please tell me you did not just bring GT500 into this conversation. I love me some GT500 but a GTD will mop the floor with it. Even the engine is tuned differently for GTD if they’re getting north of 800hp (I believe at least 850hp is what Ford has said).

If the ZR1 wins, so be it. It’s a phenomenal car as I’ve already said. Whichever one wins, I think (my opinion) it will be much closer than you are saying. I would just caution not to discount what Ford and Multimatic are doing with this car.

And for the record, I don’t care the reason Ford is building it (and yes I know why they’re building it). I’m just glad they’re building it

GTD and GT500 are not close. You lost me when you brought the GT500 as a comparison. Have a good day my friend.
