I had Roush axle backs on th car, I got a pair of stock (active) mufflers and swapped them out at a shop, ever since then the driver side exhaust pipe has been hitting part of the frame (car is a convertible so I guess it has an extra brace next to the differential?) and makes a very annoying sound all the time even going over the smallest bumps.
Is this an installation problem? Did the shop do a shitty job?
They cut and installed very close to the resonator so this is a part of the side they worked on.
What’s the solution? Remove and reinstall? Any easier fix? Pictures attached (green highlight on the correctly installed side, red on the side hitting the bracket) you can clearly see one side has much more clearance than the other.

They are from a coupe :-/
They do differ? Everything is correct fitment except this clearance distance which is only on one side.

I looked into it. Apparently the only difference is muffler tuning, exhaust pipe’s shape is identical.

If it's hitting, you are probably setting off knock sensors too. I would get that handled.

An update on this, I brought it back to the shop, they removed and reinstalled the pipes, no longer hitting. Also can confirm coupe exhaust fits fine on convertible as far as pipe routing goes.

Hmmm.... that's interesting. I am curious what the difference in sound Ford was trying to make between the convertible and others. One more loud, quieter, more mellow or maybe more raspy? That would be interesting to know. Anyone ever notice a difference between a stock convertible tone and a coupe tone? A Canada only thing????

Sub’n for someone who knows “why” vert mufflers are tuned differently than coupes.

Probably just for different cabin noise, soft top lets more sound in. I'd bet they just tuned them so the experience is the same in both cars.
