Blah blah blah
You work for one of the header companies ? Headers aren't magical unless your replacing iron logs with a single exhaust. Period.

I don't remember anyone saying "bigger is better" in this thread. Just size the tube for the power of the engine, or more correctly the power of the cylinder.
Good morning, hope you slept well....

Then you've completely failed to understand what has been written and you've contradicted yourself throughout the thread. Of the headers you say you've "designed," as in, "too many to count," what flow analysis did you do to validate all the testing you say has been done? In a prior post, it was your desire to avoid "science and math," so what exactly is your basis of understanding about how this works?

What tools did Ed have, years and years ago, when you were a wee tike in Minneapolis, that enabled you to understand anything other than specific instructions from Ed? Did you actually know what you were doing and why? How were performance gains, or the lack thereof, validated prior to someone paying for their headers?

I can turn this around. What credentials do you have?

As for Ed, every car that he designed headers for went faster on the track. Not some theoretical BS.

Actually they did. They are designed around the pulses so they help the next firing cylinder scavenge.
I was somewhat vague in that statement you quoted.
My point being with all the modern software tools available and lessons learned over many decades of header development, I believe that exhaust header R&D labor hours have been reduced significantly.

I'm not current with header design but maybe that pointy thing compensates for the rest of the crappy collector design. It does let the company save on material costs.

Oh, I see, the classic deflection tactic when the questions become difficult....So now it's the headers that Ed designed and not you?

And since you can't talk science and math, it's suddenly theoretical?

50 weight oil thread, here we come....

So far you have done nothing but blown hot air. Yes I learned from a master. Where did you learn?

Like I've stated, I'm not emotionally involved and, furthermore, have nothing to prove to you. Unless and until you can, or at least make an attempt to speak based on anything other than conjecture (like the ridiculous position based on the 70's), your convictions are completely empty. Again, you do you....

LOL yah you are, you're the one here pushing the hardest. You're the one spear heading the pissing contest. You're the one that looks like the grump here... Man this thread makes it feel like 2005 all over again! Back when forum bickering was cool!

Ed used to get ridiculed too. The magazines hated him. People came in with their Doug Thorley or Hooker Super Competition headers and left running 2 or 3 MPH faster.

Fluid dynamics don't change.

The company I'd like to see enter the S550 left hand drive market is Rex out of Aus.

I don't have an opinion on merge collectors yet either. I have seen both good and bad results using them. I don't have the means or ability to test any more so it is what it is.

I just started a mostly unpaid job as crew chief on a Legends race car. The headers on this thing suck. Maybe I will get to test some more.

Make sure you have enough backpressure or it won't run right!
