I did a search and couldn't find anything talking about this...

I'm thinking I'd like some headers, I know they will help with sound, but will they end up being drone-y in the cabin and/or will that be worth the trade off in sound and any extra HP that may come?

I've come to the conclusion that I'd like my exhaust a little louder and sound good and hopefully more HP...but will it be worth the money. and does more expensive mean better?

Very long and deep subject. Unless you are going FI or want your car REALLY loud I say they are not worth the money.. But, I am a little cynical, I did LTH and within a week regretted it. Mine became unbearable for my old ass ears... I chased resonators for several months til I finally had it toned back down to a manageable level... But that is my $0.02. If you really like the sound, and/or want the last available HP then go for it... And as far as quality, Kooks seem to be the gold standard, but Texas speed or Stainless works are great lower cost options that work great too..

Well you said it...my old ass ears...that answers a lot. I have them too and wear hearing aides...so they may be out and I just go with a cat back. I just can't seem to find an aggressive sounding one with H pipe.

But, Thanks for that info...

LTHs with an h-pipe is deep sounding like an old school muscle car IMO.

What kind of sound are you looking for from the car? It depends on what kind of sound you are looking for. from idle , to mid range rpm to high rpm they will all sound different.
You can check out videos on YouTube, but I will say that the videos do not do any justice to any of the catbacks. Each catback has its own sound through the rpm range. Personally I liked the little more rasp I heard from the s type Borla, but I was absolutely suprised by how deep it was at lower rpms.

For me it was between the s type and awe touring. The AWE comes with an h pipe, which definitely makes it sound more like the old school V8s, but the s type was a little more aggressive in mid to high range for my liking.

For what its worth, I did the S type full cat back first with factory manifolds and it sounded VERY good. I loved it. It did have an X pipe, an H pipe would have sounded better... But once the headers were added in it was a bit much.

Thanks again! I think I will wait on them. Get my exhaust set up then see what I think. I'm keeping the car N/A but still want to pull good sound and decent HP. Although, I'm having a blast now with just the straight pipe resonator delete. I will be changing that to H pipe.

Just a tip also, from everything I've seen and read on here and other places, LTH will amplify your exhaust sound 2 to 4 times the sound you have. so I would hold onto your stock exhaust just in case you decide to do LTH and they're to loud.

How far are you from Georgia Motorsports Park? Maybe you can visit the drag strip on a test n tune night and listen to some S550 Mustangs in person or better yet, make a thread asking to meet with local members that have LTHs. Maybe you can even get a ride in a few cars to get the full experience and then make a decision whether LTHs are right for you.

What did you end up doing to help quiet it down m? I have kooks LTH with H-pipe with 2 resonators and it’s still loud with drone.

This is only true if you don't have a resonator in your exhaust system. After I replaced my x-pipe with a magnaflow 11386 resonator, I got the best of both worlds, civil during daily duties with no drone and an unmistakable melody that headers produce WOT.
