I want to do the ESS kit as well. I just don't want to go through the trouble of doing opg/cs.
If you are never going to hit rev limiter or hit 2step, opg/cs is not necessary. Very good to do, but gen3 has a slightly better opg and its fine unless you apply vibrations. Im currently ess and stock opg/cs, no isssues. Im planning on doing it in years when i want to do a whole timing upgrade

I still need to dyno, but im catless headers, 120mm pulley on 93 pump gas. Should be making in the area of 680-700whp.
Oil pump gears and crank sprocket on the gen3 isnt as important for hp, as is it for mainly 2 things: what rpm redline you go to, wengerd has me shifting (stick) at 7500rpm, but rev limiter is raised to 7900 to have a little cushion to avoid banging on the rev limiter, more than stock rpm redline such as going to 8000 or 8500 can possibly cause strain on the gears, as well as any vibrations that a 2step, or a rev limiter as both are the same basically, will cause the gear to shatter sometimes

No idea. I daily drive it, mainly do street rolls for fun. I can hardly afford it without the racing costs haha. Try the ess thread, there are many there that do race and can give you all their numbers running similar setups
