Need some opinions:

1. I have an opportunity to pick up a 3.15 pumpkin. Will it be worth it or should I continue to wait on the 3.31s like everyone recommends? Keep in mind I'm in a stick car that I daily about 50 miles a day. I enjoy the peppiness of the 373s but they are hurting me when I take my trips to Mexico. I want to improve the time I spend in "boost", but it won't be worth it if the car will feel like a dog driving around the city.

2. I'll be picking up a set of 19s soon, but the only sizes the MT ET Street SS comes in are 305/35r19 and 325/30r19. What kind of performance difference have you guys seen in those two sizes? I know the 325s are quite a bit shorter than the 305s, so I'm not sure how good fitment would be anyways.

Thanks guys

The 325 is only a quarter inch shorter. Very negligible difference. 3.15’s all depends on how much you lug it down being a manual.

I've got 3.31's in my car with tires about an inch taller than stock, making my effective ratio 3.18. 6th is about useless, and I sometimes find myself wishing for a little more grunt when out of boost. You could spend some time looking a gear ratio calculators and 1/4 speeds if your so inclined, but my guess is that you'll be happier with 3.31's and likely the shorter tire.

I am actually debating a move to 3.55 or 3.73!

Will I have hooking issues with the 30 sidewall mickeys?

I really only do runs in Mexico so it’ll only need to hold up to 40 rolls or higher. Right now, the mp4s I’m on struggle with 60 rolls. I spin all day if it’s less than 60 degrees out from 60 rolls

The thing to do is figure out what speed you race to and back into the gear ratio that way. You can see here I'm good to about 145 mph in 4th which is probably faster than I'll ever race to, so a little more gear wouldn't hurt. Conversely I wouldn't want to go too steep and need 5th.

Yeah most people like 60-140 rolls, so I’d like to avoid 5th like you mentioned. Only thing is, wouldn’t I have to potentially start in a lower gear now because of the rpm drop from the lower gears anyways ?

Make sure the 3.15 is a steel cased rear...not the Aluminum one.

This would be a nice setup, you could start in 3rd and make 140 in 4th. Assumes 325/3019

I was going to ask him about this but he backed out now. I think I’ll continue waiting for the 331s.
