Guys, last night i went up to see if the dealer had a new ranger. While I was there I noticed tons of trucks and mustangs. So, i gave the new mustang a gander. The outside isn't as bad as I once thought but man the interior... I can't get beyond the ipads on the dash. its distracting as all hell to me.

I did see a black and bronze GT. that car looked REALLY nice. but again... if you gotta look at that dash all the time... no bueno.

I know there will be a flash in the pan with these cars, new model and all, but I really don't see them doing well long term. the interior apart from the dash is nice but sheesh... WTF was ford thinking?

anyhow, I really like the lack of chrome so I'm going to look into swapping the 5.0 and GT badges for the new satin silver versions.
Im with you and so are the people who see that stupid IPad sitting by itself like it was an after thought. Honda did the same thing and it looks stupid, again like they decided to add a larger screen but didnt want to invest in a complete redesign of the dash and make it a One Piece. But, that is just one persons opinion.

the beef isn't with digital screens, its with the ipads on the dash. its shitty/lazy packaging.
(looks around)

I have an admission to make: After looking at many cars for a DD and narrowing it down... my **entire** decision came down to the dash layout and the packaging of the entertainment system. I'm pretty sure I turned down the better car because of it's dash layout. It is very lazy and cost cutting interior engineering.

I just couldn't stand being in a car with the ipad sticking out of the dash.

this right here. what you see and touch while driving are critical elements.

Agreed. I have the digital dash in my s550. I like it because it's well integrated with the interior.

The S650's looks like (and probably is) a screen from a different vehicle, installed as cheaply as possible. The damn things flex when you push on them. Even the premium, while better, isn't what I'd call good.

I'm not anti-screen. I'm against badly implemented screens.

Wow, long time no post. Nice to see you're still lurking at least. I hope you and your wife are doing well, and that we'll be seeing more from you.

P.S. - This would have been a PM, but you've got us commoners blocked.

This place needs a sub forum for all the "Why I hate the S650" threads so they aren't mixed in with the S550 discussion threads. This topic has gotten really old, get over it folks.
There is a Forum. It's called mustang7g.com. Lol

If you say anything negative about it there they come after you with pitch forks and torches.

I agree with this. But unfortunately this has become a trend with manufacturers, Tesla is to blame! So I don't see it as cost cutting more of them continuing this unfortunate trend.

I know and understand this is the trend and is lIkely here to stay. And I’ll stipulate to being old. But I really just do not get this in any way, shape, form or fashion. It looks completely ridiculous.

Why not just hang a flat screen TV from the rear view mirror, kind of like a deodorant pine tree? What’s the point? These are cars, not entertainment centers!

Just watched the Throttle House video on the new M5 (electric version). They were playing video games on one of the screens. It’s a “feature” to help pass the time while you wait to charge the car. So, I guess they are entertainment centers

That looks nice!

More examples. Here the screens have a more appealing shape that blends much better with the dash.

Even rectangular screens look better when integrated into the dash.
1000005558-01.webp

Screens in the center look fine when there's still a gauge cluster.

Not my favorite but still looks better than the S650.

There's no difference in handling between a 2015 and a 2022, other than the addition of Magneride as an option.

Ford "fixed" nothing with the handling, they're the same car and suspension. Slight styling changes and a bit more power, that's all.
Incorrect.
