Every time a new gen comes out, most previous gen owners have to find something to hate about it. Simple as that.
Yeah its all cries initially then they fall in love with it.

I really love my S550 and will have had it 5 years this coming May. I am warming to the S650 and I always seem to take time to get used to changes.

I didn’t like the S550 refresh look initially but love it now so there’s that. But the biggest issue I have with the S650 is it just isn’t new really just mainly some sheet metal with 20 more horse and more weight.

Ford would have had to do something to make it a must have for me to change to it and they didn’t. In Fords defence it was a tough act to follow.

So I’ll drive and enjoy what I have. :)

Guys, last night i went up to see if the dealer had a new ranger. While I was there I noticed tons of trucks and mustangs. So, i gave the new mustang a gander. The outside isn't as bad as I once thought but man the interior... I can't get beyond the ipads on the dash. its distracting as all hell to me.

I did see a black and bronze GT. that car looked REALLY nice. but again... if you gotta look at that dash all the time... no bueno.

I know there will be a flash in the pan with these cars, new model and all, but I really don't see them doing well long term. the interior apart from the dash is nice but sheesh... WTF was ford thinking?

anyhow, I really like the lack of chrome so I'm going to look into swapping the 5.0 and GT badges for the new satin silver versions.
I ordered my 21 GTCS with the analog gauges. The digital dash was cool but just not for me. I’m just old school. I looked at the S650 but just can’t get past that iPad on the dash.

As far as this being a passing fad, no such luck. Digital screens are here now and will be in the future. There is no going back.
This maybe and is very true ................. but I don't have to buy, there are always choices. The only thing I use on the display my car has is the turn-off display.

I test drove a premium GT 650. I will never buy one.
We heard the exact same thing when the Gen 2 was released in 18‘. The front end design sucked, the M6 ratios sucked, the digital screen sucked, etc., etc. Now there are still plenty of Gen 1’s out there but the Gen 2 did pretty good. To each their own.

unless you heard the same thing from the same guy who then got the new thing... irrelevant.

i drove a 15 and i had 2 main beefs.

1. it handled like a pig
2. the hood had these ribs that obstructed my view

didn't buy one then ford fixed the front end and the handling.
suddenly i was interested again.

some of us know what we like and aren't simple minded lemmings lead by marketing to waste money on bullshit. that's why i take issue at someone asserting we're all the same.

to those ppl: we aren't. we aren't like you.

The menu driven controls are a deal breaker.

I actually like the digital dash, but not having HVAC controls and other items such as that on the console is a bummer. Driving and you have to fumble around with menus for HVAC controls is a huge miss.

And who are all these lemmings you are referring to? Most people on an S550 forum probably like it or they wouldn’t be here.

And I suspect the others who decide to buy a S650 wish to. I don’t think they are brainwashed lemmings if they decide to. Perhaps they, wait for it, like it. :)

I think you may have proved Ira’s point though. You didn’t like the 2015 (S550) but you liked the changes made in 2018 enough to buy the refresh (also S550). So, you may not like the first iteration of S650 but you might like the refresh (assuming they do one which I believe they will) and may end up with one at some point. All of which involves some level of marketing BS, that’s how products are sold.

did you read what i wrote? they changed the two things i hated. he's saying "they'll change nothing and you will love it given enough time"... which is stupid consumerism nonsense.
