Yuck.... rather deal with a sales tax and hope for a return at the end of the year
Yes I agree. Sales tax is the only ethical tax.

I traded a 96 Red Mustang V-6 (owned 18 yrs 4 mos) for my GT Premium CO
401A 50 yr pk 3.55 NAV; the only thing I didn't like was NV $3,200 sale tax
(8.1%). I looked at my car in the bright sun, and after all the complaints I
saw on this forum about panels, I couldn't find a single thing wrong--I even
checked it in a darken garage with a flashlight. "I may date a Plain Jane but
I will never drive one".

I bought one and I think there are improvements but there are also things I don't like. Oh well, can't have everything.
I HATE COKE and PEPSI and LOVE SAMS COLA for the TASTE.
Democrats LOVE TAXES!
I have had a 88 GT,93 V6,97 Cobra,2001 GT,2010 V6,2013 V6, Now
I have a NEW 2014 V6, BECAUSE I HATE the 2015! I NEVER LIKED
the 2005-2009 because I did not think Ford COMPLETED IT.
Now I Am 71 and to each his own. I will wait untill the 2025
comes out and IF I AM STILL ALIVE, AND THE COUNTRY ISN'T
GONE (BECAUSE OF OBAMA) I will buy the 2025!
Here are the things I HATE about the 2015. JUST ME FOLKS
I think this LIST is too LONG A LIST for the Thread.
2015 Mustang! What I Don't Like About It SO FAR!
1964 Ford Mustang For Sale April 17 1964.
2015 Ford Mustang Delivered October 2014.
This is 50 1/2 YEARS. Should have ARRIVED APRIL 2014!
EXTERIOR
The whole Rear End is UGLY! Tail Lights SUCK.
License Plate Area Is Unfinished For The USA.
Back Up Light is a SINGLE Light Located Center Bottom.
Rear Bottom Valance on V6 Is Not Defined.
High Mount Stop Light is RECESSED into Rear Window Where
Rear Window and Roof Meet. LIKE FUSION.
Trunk Lid Lines Cut Across the Bottom of ROOF and Has Keylock.
Mustang Is Not A Vette or Viper. Roof Has Two Bubbles.
HOOD SIDE LINES CUT ALONG FENDER AND OVER at WINDSHIELD!
Side SUCKS! Rocker Panel looks ADD ON. TOO Many Panel Joint
Lines. Rear of Rocker Panel goes up INTO Rear Quarter Panel.
Rocker Panel STICKS OUT to the SIDE and you will STEP
ON IT WHEN YOU EXIT. The Whole SIDE LINES SUCK!
Side GLASS OVER B PILLAR LOOKS STUPID! Pillar LOOKS BETTER!
Mirrors Mounted on Side Of DOORS are FRAGIL and FOLD. WHY?
Standard Wheels SUCK. SO DO ALL BLACK WHEELS. Tires are TOO
WIDE 235/17R55. And HANKOOK AND GOODYEAR Tires are BAD BRANDS.
FRONT END LOOKS OK BUT, Turn Signal/Parking Light Lens are not
Finished on the Bottom.
Under the front is a 4 BALL JOINT SETUP. 2013/2014 is BETTER.
IRS will RIDE BETTER but the LOG REAR END WAS PERFECTED on 13/14.
The IRS has HALF SHAFTS like a FWD Car. I DO NOT WANT HALF SHAFTS!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT
V6 Downgraded to 300HP and DETUNED and has SMALLER, LOWER INTAKE
PLUS 3:15 Rear Gears will DELIVER LESS MPG! (TO SELL ECO 4)
3 BOLT STRUT TOWER. NOT 4 BOLT like MOST MUSTANGS.
BATTERY STORED in a COMPARTMENT at FIREWALL UNDER VENT PANEL.
2015 has OPEN SIDES under the hood and Vent Panel is WARPED.
2011 V6 = 5.1 to 60 13.7 in 1/4 @ 102.VS 2015 EB 5.2 13.8 102.
INTERIOR
NO TOGGLE SWITCHES ON V6 CAR. CARBON FIBER LOOK ON DASH.
PUSH BUTTON START. LARGE KEY FOB.
SMALL FONTS used on SPEEDO and TACH PODS. EYEBROWS are TOO SQUARE.
WIPER STALK Moved to Right Side of Steering Wheel. Lights Stalk
Still on Left Side. AUTO LAMPS and AUTO WIPERS.
STEERING WHEEL has TOO MANY BUTTONS UNDER THE SPOKES. PADDLES TO
UPSHIFT or DOWNSHIFT WILL REQUIRE LEFT OR RIGHT HAND to MOVE THEM.
THE + AND - ON THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB ON 13/14 is PUSHED WITH YOUR
THUMB and you can KEEP LOOKING AT THE ROAD OR TACH.
I DO NOT WANT SYNC! or an I-CAR. (GET IT, I PHONE).
Back up Camera is in the REAR VIEW MIRROR on the BASE V6 Car.
TOO MUCH TECH and THOSE ITEMS CANNOT BE DELETED To LOWER PRICE!
HEAD REST are TOO THIN! Seat Belt LOOPS on Top of Seat Back.
Console Cup Holders are NOT COVERED with a LID TO REST YOUR ARM.
DO WE NEED PRNDS Between the PODS and BY THE SHIFTER and ON KNOB?
Tweeter Speakers in A PILLAR are sticking out in front view.
This 2015 will COST YOU $25,000 and it is NOT the TRUE 50th Year!
I bought a 2014 MADE IN APRIL 2014 a TRUE 50th Year CAR for $19,988.
In 10 years the 2025 MAY BE BETTER. I LIKE MINE BETTER NOW!

It's a mild improvement. Sure everything is great now with the IRS, but we don't know the longevity/reliability of it. Sure I suspect it'll be fine, but it's still an unknown; hence so far a mild improvement.
Um . . . every car sold in the US in 2014 except the Mustang used IRS. Ford is hardly an early adopter here. Besides, it's still mostly an 8.8 inside, wrapped in an IRS design adapted from a proven production layout. Ford is not noted for taking big technical chances.

The 15 is a massive improvement over the S197 generation in terms of handling, ride, refinement, interior quality and more. The performance numbers might be termed a "mild improvement" but the experience improvement is off the charts.

The S197 crowd is just livid over the S550, for reasons probably well-summarized above. Some people hate change, others are just stuck on the stik axle thing, another group seems to think Mustangs must have round headlights, even though 27 of the 50 model years have had square or elongated lights not so different from the new car. I can't really understand the problem, and I guess they are just going to miss out on all the fun.

You didn't know? The Fusion, Taurus, Focus and Fiesta all still have a live rear axle. Mustang is paving the way for IRS.

Only the Fiesta has a "solid" rear axle and it is not the same as a Mustang. All the rest have independent rear suspensions and have for years.

We have income taxes
I feel your pain. We have 8.5% Sales tax and income tax down here in New Orleans. Sales tax varies throughout the parishes here but we generally have nothing to show for the taxes we pay

As the previous owner of a 2013 GT, 2011 GT, 2010 GT, 2006 GT, 2005 GT, 2000 GT, 1996 GT, 1987 GT, 1985 GT, 1983 GT, 1982 GT, 1979 5.0, and a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 (351C), I have owned every Mustang generation except for Gen 2 (Mustang II) and can say that, without a doubt, the 2015 is the best Mustang I have ever owned and driven, hands down.

I remember the same "hate" when the 2013 came out. 2010-2012 fans hated the nose -- they thought it made the front end look too heavy.

I remember the same "hate" when the 2010 came out. 2005-2009 fans hated the rear end styling (the 5.0L in 2011 helped some folks overlook the rear-end styling).

There wasn't much "hate" when the Gen 5 2005 model came out. That was such a big change and a nod from Ford that they were taking the Mustang back to its roots. The main gripe I recall at the time is that the interior had more hard/shiny plastic compared to the Gen 4 SN-95s and the SC Cobra was missing. Other than that, it was a huge improvement.

I also remember there wasn't much "hate" when the Gen 3 Fox platform came out in the fall of 1978 as a 1979 model. Even though the 5.0L engine was only 140 HP, the Fairmont-based chassis was so much better than the loosely-based Pinto chassis used on the Mustang II. I remember getting my new 1979 Mustang 5.0 4-speed manual (4th was overdrive, LOL!). 0-60 in 8 seconds never felt so good! LOL. Minor styling changes in 1983, 1985, and 1987 generated some hate from those who don't like change.

Lastly, I remember when the 1971 Mustang (1971-73 were the last Gen 1s) came out. Folks said it was too big and didn't look like a Mustang. They were probably right. But did you know that it weighed less than the 2015 Mustang GT and that the 1971 and 2015 are actually very similar in size? See this:

Gen 1 1971 Mustang / Gen 6 2015 Mustang dimensions:
Wheelbase: 1971 - 109 inches / 2015 - 107.1 inches
Length: 1971 - 189.5 inches / 2015 - 188.3 inches
Width : 1971 - 74.1 inches / 2015 - 75.4 inches
Height: 1971 - 50.1 inches / 2015 - 54.4 inches

But, as big as it seemed, daaayum, the 1971 car in Sportsroof/Mach 1 and Boss trim, Grabber Blue, Cragar mags, and a 351C V8, was a helluva looker. I would love to still have that car today!

I do believe that if the 2015 Mustang had been introduced with 450HP or so, the "straight-liners" would be more inclined to like the car. As it is, the 2015 GT's straight-line performance is approximately the same as the 2014 ...possibly 1/10 second or so slower in the quarter mile based on some early 1/4 mile runs I've seen (difference could be due to a new/tight motor vs one that's broken in well). I'm betting that Ford will improve that in the next year or two.

I have mixed feelings on the 2015 Mustang. Photos don't do it justice. I'm a big fan of the 50th Anv appearance package & will probably being buying a Yellow GT in a few months.

The 2015's brakes & interior are awesome but Ford failed on the weight and the car drives heavy to me but is way more stable but slower than my 2013 GT.

Significant styling changes in particular are polarizing; let's not forget the flak over the 2010's . . . or ignore the response to the 2014 Camaro's refresh (might as well learn what to be careful with no matter where you learn it from).

Drag racing is racing, and racing does tend to be conservative (i.e. you tend to do what everybody else does even when the rules don't restrict you to doing that). The serious people don't want to take even a temporary step backward [to develop the IRS] and the not-so-serious people aren't going to put the time, effort, and money into it anyway.

I think what many of the corner-carvers are hoping for is at least a similar improvement in performance numbers in the GT350 vs the PP as the PP made over the S197.

When the '87 GT came out I hated the rear of that car. I thought the louvered taillights and rear valance were ugly, but I bought an '88 GT years later.

When the '95 Mustang came out I was disappointed by the weight gain, and disappointed further still when the 4.6 replaced the 5.0. I bought a '98 GT new in late '97.

When the '05 came out I loved it from the moment I saw it and bought an '06 GT as soon as I was able to raise the funds.

When the '10 came out I loved the sleeker front and sides, but hated the rear. I bought my current '12 Boss new in early 2012.

The current car is one sexy car. I love the sides and rear, but am a little let down by the weight gain. I guess this means I will be buying one soon...

I still don't understand this thread. It's like penis envy. I don't really think many 11+ owners are all that mad about the new cars.

I'm not at all.
