It’s the street legal version of the GT3 race car. They built the race car first and are now building the GTD on the race car chassis. It’s way more than a Shelby in terms of total performance

Ford is wanting to compete with Porsche and amg at the track. In order for them to do that, they need a street variant of the track car. This is basically a loop hole, make a limited production so they can produce a different version of the track mustang to compete with Porsche and AMG on another level and best them. This is interesting, this is not meant to replace the gt500, but it's cool to see where the mustang will be headed.

I’m pretty sure they’ve already talked to some of the biggest collectors of cars out there in the US and other countries to get the feedback before they even thought about revealing this. They are all sold if they really do this.

Those fender flares are rediculous. If the gt500 can put 305/325 under the fenders, what's with the extra 6 inches on each side? The imsa Lexus are ugly as hell. Why would you just copy an unimaginative solution?

These cars are made to burnish a brand and have no real connection to any production cars. Will cost the earth and Ford will lose money on each one of the few they make and sell.

It looks really good. They fixed all of the shortcomings of the S650, from looks to performance. That said, it's a bummer that it's a Mustang for the elites. And it's not even a money thing, but all about connections.

It's damn good package. The ultimate Mustang.

Ford has been racing for decades. Not sure what you’re getting at here. It’s the very definition of a halo car, much like the Ford GT was. And they need to produce it for homologation rules so that they can race the GT3 next year.
