not today but weekend just gone went to Skye then across to Ullapool via Applecross then home, utterly roasting (for us Scots 23-30degC) and sunrise at 420am while camping is really not conducive to sleeping. Couple of photos from the run
@WD Pro this is the first day, mixture of single carriageway avg speed cameras, dual carriage way, single carriage way with no cameras and lots of corners for speed limit cruising and bend swinging

Applecross peak (small by some folks standards but the road up is very entertaining in a single track road with passing places, 60mph limit, three alpine style hairpins and countless blind corners but to get to the start of the run you have all of the above bar the hairpin corners! Sign at bottom of road (google pic) from Scotland Info Guide https://www.scotlandinfo.eu/applecross-bealach-na-ba-shieldaig/

arrived at peak and car was sweating, CHT 110degC and oil temperature also 110degC (air con was on for the entire run)

and final fill up after getting home, i obviously have a pathetic right foot though i did have precious cargo onboard for the entire trip. @WD Pro - check out that Miles to E :giggle:  more like for such a run

Damn, I wish England had roads like that.

Well, you're a lot closer to that road than most of us. 😄

When Rory Reid test-drove a Mustang EcoBoost for Top Gear, where was that?
That road may not have twisted like Applecross, but I sure liked the scenery.

A football did that ?
I was going to ask "What kind of football?" and "Birmingham, England or Birmingham, Alabama?" but then I noticed the license number plate. 😁

Edit: Later still, noticed this was a UK-specific thread.

I've definitely driven the roads in the video but couldn't remember where until 6:56 and reckon it's the Kylesku Bridge so I'm guessing most of the video was shot north of Ullapool on the road to Scourie and further on maybe Durness which I've definitely done though maybe not for a few years. Oh well, there is still time to head back this summer

Have to say though, some of the videos from the States of folks doing canyon runs or mountain drives are easily as nice and almost certainly have better or more predictable weather most of the year round.

Thought this one looked familiar! Aren't the roads on Skye epic?!

You had better weather than me for Applecross, drive up was ok but drive down was sketchy!

Yes, we have some fun roads and beautiful scenery here. Unfortunately, I live too far from any of it, now.
I really miss the mountains of New Mexico. I lived at the base of a mountain range and could drive up there on a whim.
I learned about "black ice" on the Sunspot Highway (and didn't wreck!)
Learned heel-and-toe downshifts on New Mexico Route 130.
...At completely legal speeds, I assure you. 😇

yeah i'd say same layby in Skye as there isn't another one like that IIRC. Weather up Applecross was a good as it gets tbh, couldn't ask for anything better.

Decided to change the gearbox oil as I seem to have done everything else lately :cwl: not sure if it's placebo or the fact that the original oil would be on 67,000 miles anyway but it does feel a bit smoother in fairness.

Had my first incident with my Mach 1 splitter (handling pack) in my own drive at 2mph! Small gate centre up stand was re fitted last week and is now 10mm higher, clearly I wasnt aware of this ! Now have hairline crack, will run with it for a while (whilst reversing out of drive now) , all part of the fun!
Loving the car right now, now it’s run in I can feel the free breath engine .

After a very expensive puncture yesterday - yes, you’ve guessed it, the nail was in the edge of the tread where the tyre couldn’t be repaired and this was a tyre with less than 2600 miles on it - and a very slow drive back home stopping every couple of miles or so to re- inflate the tyre (yes I eventually tried the ‘mobility’ kit which was, as anticipated, useless) I finally bit the bullet after dithering ever since I bought the car and ordered a space saver spare from The Wheel Shop. Ordered yesterday, it arrived today. 🕺
It fits perfectly. Pics below. I bought the kit with the Jack and brace etc although I wouldn’t recommend attempting to loosen those 150 ft/lbs wheel nuts with it. The first and last time I attempted it with a 12” breaker I nearly soiled myself. Bearing that in mind, I put a 18” breaker with 5” socket extension + a 22mm deep socket - I’m using McGard wheel nuts- in the boot/trunk. To stop the breaker from banging around etc I slipped it into a section of pipe insulation that I had kept. It’s slightly too small and I just know that @WD Pro will be casting a critical eye over my attempt so I’ll replace it with a correctly sized section just as soon as I can get to B&Q.

I won't mention the pipe lagging ...

Credit goes to @philmil for sending me the link for that kit, which I then sent onto you :like:

Now about that pipe lagging ... :giggle:

I'm going to end up killing my battery, working from home it keeps draining completely flat.
I now have two fully functioning batteries lol :brokenheart:
