Nobody likes Mach 1's

I'm also happy people are sleeping on them. They're a bargain in the context of the broader car market. And affordable V8s are going the way of the Dodo sooner than people think. ;)

I'd love to have a Mach 1. I didn't buy my GT for car shows. When I do go to them, I prefer looking at old classics and restomods to newer models. S550 GTs get just as little attention, if not less, than Mach 1s unless there are significant cosmetic mods or superchargers under their hoods.

BTW 18 mos and still have only seen 1 other in person, Cyber Orange 2022 last fall. If nothing else we are rare.

We are the classic example of the forgotten middle child.

After 18 months of ownership, a trend has emerged, at least in Western PA.

GT350 and 500 guys tend to look down on us because, well, we're not them.

GT and EB guys snub us because they think we are rich kids who can afford a nice car.

Your car is fancier than Warren Buffet's. Being concerned about what others think about your car means you are insecure. Judging people based on what they drive makes one an insecure asshole.

There's even fewer in the UK, maybe 400-500. Plus we have nearly zero other American muscle cars outside of Mustangs. I definitely get the "what the heck is that?!" look regularly.

The better manual transmission is definitely something to get excited about. The front looks better than the GT as well.

I don't have a competitive spirit, I enjoy the driving for myself, there's lot of twisted roads around here with little traffic. I'd like to get to the track once a year, for a private session, not open drives. Other than that, I wanna preserve it for next 50 years so don't wanna abuse it

I kind of agree. The mach 1 is cool and incredibly competent, but it's definitely not a Shelby. It'll get its respect eventually, but right now it's just a dressed up PP. I could also be jaded since I see so damn many in my area. It's like a 4 to 1 ratio of GT's 1 Mach 1s. They're everywhere!

Hmm I wouldn't say that I'm insecure, more like an unrealistic expectation for car shows... I went to shows for years when I didn't have a car to take, just to talk to car guys and check out different rides. I had similar expectations taking the Mach and in some cases that's still the way it is but for the most part not so much. Might go back to just going to shows as a spectator.
