For what it’s worth, I attended the Ford Performance Driving School last July. The Mach 1’s were equipped with the PS4S not the Cup. 2’s. While I did not drive the car near the limit, the instructor did in my instructor ride. These were HP equipped cars otherwise. Anecdotally, I would stay with the Michelins.

I was with Ford Perf school last year and asked the question. I did upgrade to the Cup 2's for the Mach1 TrackAttack. They said, when it rains, they stick to the PS4S and you can't use the Cup 2. When I asked what the time difference is between the two on a dry day, it was about 2 sec difference per lap. The Full Roval.

FWIW, Spoke with Billy Johnson briefly some time ago, he said the Conti ECS were 95 percent in his opinion of the PS4S. Its been a while since I had the convo so hopefully remembering correctly. They were a darn good option he said. Last we exchanged messages, he had not driven the ECS2 yet. He also said to check out the Extreme Contact Force, but I didn't find the correct sizes there, and thats more of a SC2 equivalent. I was going for PS4 but in Conti.

For a novice like myself, the ECS2 would be compatible to which Michelin tires

Thanks

Can’t go wrong with either one, they’re the top 2 tires in their class IMO and per a lot of different road test reviews. Mercedes and BMW use the Conti ECS for their performance driving school cars and FPRS uses Michelins at the Track Attack (as shown in one of the prior posts) just as another reference point. ECS02 size offerings are a bit limited right now but they’ve said more sizes are coming this spring and summer.

LMR is an online retailer like CJ Pony Parts, American Muscle, etc. SVE is their line of wheels, I have a set and I love them. They’re a good wheel for a good price. Lighter than stock and look good.

I'm looking at the specs of the EXTREMECONTACT SPORT 02 tires and wondering why anyone would want to receive performance from a 340 treadwear tire? If you're looking for performance, something in the 240 to 200 treadwear rating is what would deliver. Comparing tires in the 300+ range seems counterproductive. Anything in the 300 to 340 range is going to last a long time and provide the minimum traction a sports car should have. Dip down into the mid to low 200s and that's IMO the highest treadwear number a sports car should have. I prefer a 200 or lower. Putting on a mid 300 to 400 treadwear tire and asking how it performs just doesn't make sense.

I have to assume most are not asking for race track performance while on the street and want better longevity, but also have a desire to better understand how the ECS2s perform. It appears they perform well on the street and some track days with a lowly 340 rating.

In the end, 200 rated (or less) only seem to matter when feeling more competitive for track or autocross events…just my opinion. When my PS4s wear out, I’m happy to try the ECS2s for the limited track / autocross events I’ll run.

Until today, for the last 4 years I have been on Conti ECS. Never had an issue and was more than fun on the street. The only time I had a different tire on the car was for track use and to be honest I don’t think the tire made it any more/less enjoyable. All about how you drive it. I just switched to Kuhmo v730 to use as a dual purpose street and track this year so I will see how it is to have a 200TW as a street tire.

People drive with 300TW on the track and have no complaints.

I have a full set of 19x11's from them. A lot of people on the forum run their wheels. They are much lighter than the HP wheels, but the finish (paint) isn't quite as good as OEM. Good value for the price. If I had more money I'd get Apex wheels EC-7.

I did buy a 2nd set but they were still heavy. I got Apex EC-7's 11" which weigh 24.5 LB ea. (no tire).

Sorry Rob, I saw your reply after I replied. But that's what I did. I got EC-7's and decided to go square with 305's for the track.
