So this car is likely running some sort of tune. Since there is no blower or turbo on car, does that mean less likely the car has been hurt in any way via the tune(s)?
Who knows. Most tuners are giving safe tunes but no one knows how it was driven.

Since you don't know what any of this stuff is I'd say pass on this one and find a car that is stock.

^^^^. BEST advice right there. Because 99% of the time when a modded vehicle is purchased and the mods are unknown AND ANY aftermarket “tune” is involved, it’s problems for the current owner…. problems such as not being able to pass their Home State emissions testing, problems with fuel mix, problems with idle, problems with driving, and problems with (insert anything here now)….

Don’t purchase a modded S550 if:
1) The seller knows nothing about it and is just flipping a traded in vehicle OR they bought it and are now dumping it.

2) The Seller didn’t have any sweat equity in the game by buying/doing the mods themselves - because most of the time, some who just pay for mods to join the go fast crowd don’t know jack about what the aftermarket shop or Tuner put on/in their ride.

3) You as a buyer are not up on Model XYZ and the aftermarket parts tacked onto it.

The above isn’t a bash, it’s education, I say this because we’ve seen it time and time again where someone buys a modified S550, then next thing you know, the thing won’t pass emissions or state inspections, they’re having drivability issues OR they end up ventilating the block because they didn’t know what tune it had…

Sure, many us of agree a modded car can be great, but if a potential buyer or the seller doesn't really know any of the history behind the mods, or every mod the car has (including a tune, which is normally NOT a transparent thing), then the buyer is walking into trouble from the start.

My guess would be that the car previously had a turbo(or possibly centri) on it. Hard to tell from the pics, but the gauges would typically indicate a return style fuel system, which wouldn't make much sense on most N/A cars. The manifold would be much more logical on a turbo car as well.

I’m betting that car has been flogged like a rented mule. It’s one thing if it’s loaded with upgraded parts and the new owner is a wrench who can decipher and make the most of them. It’s quite another if the buyer is an unsuspecting guy looking for a nice reliable and steetable ride without having to get his hands dirty every weekend.
That car woukd be a hard pass for me Dog.

The car is a ‘18, at a distant dealer. What are the gauges either side of the manifold? This gauge is on A pillar.

If it is a 2018, then the 2 gauges on either side of the intake can only be for the port injector rails as the DI pressures would blow the gauges apart. I couldn't see stuff well in the photo but at first thought maybe the guy had nitrous on it but didn't see the solenoids for it.

The port injection pressure is not high, only on the DI side under the intake.

I think I see aftermarket fuel rails and also gauges on either side of the rails which suggests that the car has fuel system upgrades too. Built engine with enhancements (maybe)?

That intake might give some gains up top, but it will definitely reduce low end torque. The intake might be a good choice for a car with forced induction.

I would stay away from this vehicle.

Perform a compression test at a minimum to see how good of a seal each cylinder has.

TSP Velocity intake manifold. Available on eBay.
