What tracks? Definitely not cool putting the public in danger but seriously, what tracks? Only track within hours of me is closing next spring and it seems most of the public and law enforcement are against any kind of pop up organized event where anyone can go have some fun with their cars

The biggest reason tracks everywhere are shutting down is the value of the land. Always has been and always will be. If the track owners don't sell to the developers outright, then they drive up property values to the point that the track owners can no longer afford the taxes and are forced to sell. I wish these developers would go after golf courses and leave the tracks alone. Golf courses take up a lot of land just like a track does, but there are thousands of GC's in this country, way more than what is needed.

I don't condone street racing at all, but I'm not surprised it happens. People with hopped up cars need a safe place to go and when the tracks keep getting shut down, they will find a place to race.

But the Mustang won.

joking aside , there is plenty of idiots on the road. Some guy in a Camaro for some reason felt intimated by my Mach 1. He went through a red to catch up to me then cut all of us off after he passed me. I waited till he went left, i slowed down and did a slow flyby on track exhaust. what an idiot. lol

Happens to me a lot only it’s the clapped out Infiniti crowd around here. Had a jagoff try it with me today on my way home from picking up my kids from school. He was a car behind me in the right hand lane, he quick jumped into the left lane behind me, rode my ass till he could get in the right hand lane again then gunned it. Dumbass wasn’t paying attention and almost rear ended a school bus. Kid looked to be maybe 17 years old.

That's is crazy especially at night, if the driver with the Camera was doing 80 they were definitely flying. No need for those speeds on the street.

I don’t know the limitations on posting published work, here is a resulting photo of a middle-aged couple driving at a high rate of speed, missing a curve, going up an embankment, hitting a pole, flipping over (I assume rolling), both passed from their injuries…no racing, just driving too fast (and I am guessing that poor lighting contributed at the curve, when you can’t see it you can’t act on it). This was in Upstate New York. This is a Camaro.

I sat behind an accident this morning for 40 min, suv rear ended a box truck, suv driver taken away in ambulance, probably on their effing phone. cell phones are more of a problem than racing, laws against both. cant stop stupidity.
It's not just the phones that are the main interior distraction, it's all the damn touch displays built into the vehicle that are a distraction. People having to take their eyes off the road to figure out how to adjust what used to be simplistic actions such as, changing their HVAC settings and now needing to go through multiple touch points on a screen.

A recent article regarding impaired drivers, drugs and alcohol.

https://www.wdbj7.com/2022/10/10/2-men-arrested-dui-after-lamborghini-street-race-ends-fiery-crash/

A race which ended badly in Denver, October this year. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Consider at any given moment, how many people driving are under/over-medicated (incorrectly dosed, prescription), drunk, under the influence of illegal/legal narcotics, physically or mentally impaired.

The most obvious threat I feel at any given time is the ever-increasing number of people on their cell phones or infotainment systems. Talking, texting and surfing the Internet, oblivious to everything around them. For many, it's completely acceptable to not pay attention while driving, drift into another lane, off the road or drive at inappropriate speeds (too slow for the posted limit) while conducting their personal business.

CJ, I’ll respectfully disagree with you on this one. It’s on the driver to determine if doing something in their car other than looking straight ahead is safe. It’s not the screen, or the phone, or any other intimate object that causes an accident (other than a mechanical failure, of course). There is nothing, absolutely nothing that is so important that it can’t wait until you stop or pull over. The driver makes that decision, not the screen.

This happened in Lewisville outside of Dallas. Street racing there is a big problem. Sad regardless. It's just not worth doing this on roads this busy.

I was going 100 yesterday in my Accord because the 3 other cars in the fast lane were too. The rest of the traffic doing 80+. The 45 and 130 toll roads in central Texas have some fast drivers. Not even racing anything.
