$7M fine and 10% less aero testing. What a joke.
$7M fine for a half mill over spend plus reduced aero testing doesn't seem like a joke. From an accounting perspective they were over by around $2M but only because RB screwed up the paperwork for a tax credit that the FIA says would have cut the overspend down to a half mil. But the fine part has no effect on the F1 program. It does NOT count toward a future season cost cap.

The only effect on the F1 program is the 10% reduction in aero testing. That’s a reduction of 22 wind tunnel runs and 140 CFD items per ATP.

For a team that has 2 teams on the grid, $7M is laughable. More aero testing deductions would have been better since they’re dominating this year.

The fine is just a message and was undoubtedly chosen as one that RB and the other teams AND the FIA would accept. RB could have appealed several times. FIA did not believe any overspending was intentional, so the fine is just something to get the attention of whoever experiences the profits or losses of the team. The fine has no effect on how much money RB spends next year.

Make no mistake, RB and the FIA wanted it over and BOTH agreed to this. Both will sleep well. Dragging it out is bad for the sport and the FIA and neither they or RB wanted to risk a less favorable result thru either of two available appeals. The devil you know vs .....

And the reason we won't hear anything but whining and crocodile tears from other teams (and we will hear a lot from those prone to it) is simple: Not a single one of those teams would give up 10% of their aero testing in exchange for the $500,000 extra dollars RB spent. It is a true and significant punishment.

Side bets anyone on some team(s)/fans claiming the punishment is actually a plus for RB because they will now have all the money they would have spent on more aero testing to spend on other things?

Make no mistake. This bs originated with Wolf’s plant in the FIA. Did you bother to even look at what the they were supposedly in breach of? It was for catering and paying for sick time. What a fxcking joke. Under 500k on a 145 million dollar budget on shxt that has nothing to do with the car or racing. And the 7mil to the FIA is little more then a shake down. And if you pull the rules are rules card. How would you like it if you went on sick leave and your boss said sorry, we’re over budget to bad. The solice in all this is Mercedes even with all of Wolf’s …. the last two years, there cars still sxck. Redbull didn’t care about the 7mil because of what there getting paid for the constructors championship. The whiney bxtches on the grid need to change there feminine products and make there cars competitive. :curse:

Redbull has speed on tap in there pocket. I think Horner is holding that. Hamilton several race’s back stated they have no idea how fast Redbull truly is because they haven’t pushed them. Cota was affirmation of Hamilton’s thoughts. He was truly shocked how Verstappen caught him and won the race.

Hello; I am guessing this is the RB penalty you are not pleased with?? If so, I for one am pleased they did not take the championship away from Max.
Did not think the details ae out as yet, but perhaps an early leak?

Many of us get nothing less than handing that championship over to Lewis was all that mattered to some. Such was the point of this second uproar about the cost caps. I wonder if this uproar will come back to bit those who championed it as the uproar over Masi's end of race ruling did. By that I mean will the complaining teams be burned over caps in the future. As the old saying goes "be careful what you wish for".

If the above is indeed true, the aero testing will hurt more than the money.

I’ve read what they were in breach of and yeah, it’s a joke. Would be nice to work for Red Bull though, get paid for doing your job and get fed well. I didn’t expect points deductions for drivers or constructor for last year to be valid for spending too much on catering. Wasn’t really Red Bulls fault for Abu Dhabi, or was it, since Masi used to work for Red Bull. Conspiracy? lol.

Hello; Any hints as to what will be attempted next to get that championship switched??

2.2 million dollars for catering? My God, what do those guys eat? You could feed caviar to an entire small country for one year and still not get even close to that amount. Especially if we consider that this is not the actual catering budget, it's just the bit that went over the budget. How big must the actual catering budget have been in the first place, if just a tiny involuntary excess amounts to 2.2 million?
Yeah, right, it was catering... Give me a break... 🙄

So Toto’s plant in the FIA allowed Red Bull’s Masi to be hired in the first place? Now I smell a conspiracy. Oh wait, that smell is coming from Red Bull catering kitchen. :cwl:

Toto’s plant wasn’t there last season. Try to keep up on the conspiracy and discern the information in the proper chronological order.:fingerscrossed: It’ll be interesting to see what Wolf cries about next year in the name of safety if Merc doesn’t improve there car.

So last year was a Red Bull plant, this year it’s Mercedes. Man Ferrari must really be pissed.
