And make sure once installed you don't squeeze in the windshield washer tube. Read about many times on how to avoid it. Sure enough, week after the install I used the washer, nothing. Thought, those damn people at Ford didn't fill up my bottle while getting an oil change. When I popped the hood at home I saw the line was squeezed flat, had it done wrong, but took 5 mins to adjust and fix. 🤪

I recently bought the CPC hood struts designed for the '15-'17 models. They won't fit my '20 GT. The spacing between the hood bolts holes is different. It's about a 1/4" shorter on my car plus the size of my hood bolts are smaller. I have 6mm bolts and the CPC bracket has 8mm holes. I think I can elongate the bottom hole a 1/4" and sleeve the bolts to make up the gaps. There is another difference. The top of the bracket where the strut ball is attached extends about 1/4" too far to fit the space. The hood dips down at that point making the bracket rub. I think I can grind enough off the back side of the bracket to make it fit without weakening the ball attachment point. I'm going to try anyway.
Why? For $100 just get a set designed for you car. For something so small this just doesn’t make any sense.

Installed Ford Performance struts. The guys at Ford will thank me when installing the Supercharger.

That's an option but I like the long hood bracket that CPC uses. It should cut down on the possibility of hood bending over time. If I can spend a few minutes modifying the '17 version to fit, it will be worth the peace of mind. CPC says they are working on a version for '18-'22 models but it will be a few months before they can bring it to market.

I understand why you want to do this. Certainly makes sense. But why would CPC wait five years to update their product. Makes no sense at all. I think they were feeding you line. I wonder why!!

For what it is worth, My Red Line Struts from my 2017 GT are on my 2020 and they are just fine. That's 5 years.

The factory hood prop bar for the win. It is the lightest option.

Damn some lazy people on here.
I was so confused by this. Had no idea people would want this and be so passionate about hood struts.

I chose the Ford Performance. The lower mounts could be better. They cock at a slight angle. But they work properly and stay put.

The price is great and I like the Ford Performance branding. They look factory.

The prop rod is an insult to the Mustang buyer IMO. It's right up there with the single tone horn inflicted on buyers. Even the Premiums have single. Some of their crap doesn't make sense.

Well at least Ford fixed the horn issue in 2020. I had to buy my second one.
