I have always bought Mobil 1 from Walmart as they have the best prices. 10 qrts for $50. No one else comes close.

The last few times I've gone to Walmart for oil, the shelves looked scarce; specifically Mobil 1. Yesterday, they were out in-store. I ordered online and today they cancelled my order because they said there was no availability. Does anyone have insight as to if there is an oil shortage or maybe Mobil 1 specifically is having supply chain problems? Suppose it could be a Walmart issue too.

I've noticed the same and I'm about due for an oil change. Not what I wanted to hear, but did fear it might happen.

I order mine Walmart online, ships free if over $35. I get either Mobile-1 or Valvoline synthetics. Beats running to the stores to find what I need.

Same with Rotella T6 5W-40. Been out/low stock for months.
Exactly. But I was able to track down enough for two oil changes. Doesn’t help that rotella also has huge rebates on their oil too. I mean it does if you can’t get some. N actually menards had a bit locally. Oil filters aren’t easiest to find. Got a couple from the dealer n they didn’t even come in boxes. Told me they aren’t easy to get right now

Last time I bought oil it was cheap, so I bought enough for 3 changes. I'm good for 2 more years.

Like many, my Wal-Mart has an auto-service section, where people can buy tires, get oil changes, etc.

If I go there on the weekend or Monday/Tuesday, forget it. The shelves are stripped bare of almost every oil you can imagine.

Thursday seems to be the sweet spot. They've had time to restock and it is before the weekend.

Like many, I've gotten in the habit that when I see it (anything these days) I buy it then, if not two of it, and stash it in the basement.

I’m a hoarder I overstock food, supplies, filters, gallons of oil, from motorcycles to cars to mowers. If you can get things at cost, buy them and extras, because price will just go by next time you need it, if you can even get it when you need it

Seems plausible with the energy crunch going on. I dunno though. I find it hard to believe it will ever be an actual shortage to where you can't change your oil. Maybe just issues with acquiring preferred brands. I just ordered some Pennzoil Ultra Platinum from Amazon since I can't ever find it locally anyway, lol.

Between Walmart and Amazon, I stocked up on about 2 years of oil changes for my Mustang and Mazda CX-5 with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. The price was 23.97 for 5 quart jugs, which is the best price I have seen anywhere. Now, I don't think it's available at either place, and I just bought about a week ago. It's like, if you see it, get it, because you never know. I was able to get oil filters for both vehicles also, but I like to use K and N high performance filters, the white ones, which have that awesome nut on the bottom for removal. Been using them for about 20 years and have never had an issue or problem with them. Just a bit of advice.
