Long story short Ford is shipping these cars track ready. Pilot Sport Cup 2s are not daily driving tires especially the massive tires on the HP trim.

In something like a FWD Honda, I can feel comfortable getting up to 100mph on dry roads, and up to 70mp. I can count maybe 1 or 2 times I have ever actually hydro planned. I want to keep it that way. It makes much more sense to me to have two sets of tires/wheels. In other words I'm not looking for dual use opinions, I'm looking for a daily driving setup. I'm looking for opinions for someone who's coming from FWD 200-300HP cars to RWD 500HP. In this car I will be accelerating harder but I am not a road racer, Id top out at 90-100mph.

Since I am in the north east my biggest concern for me is hydroplaning. So far I have come to the conclusion that Pilot Sport 4 S is good enough to put my life in. The standard 305/315 look great but are a big difference from the 195-225s you'd find on normal cars and will hydroplane more. Tire direct has a nice tool that can show you different setups.

I've come to the conclusion 285/35 front, and 295/35 rear would be my best bet. I can do a staggered side to side rotation when the time comes. Another is 285 all around and figure out rotation from there. I wonder how much it would be in added costs to unmount all the tires and do a proper rotation. I'm looking to hear other people's opinion. How much WORSE or BETTER would wet handling/braking be with this setup compared to FWD vehicles.

Are you saying you want to keep the cup2’s? If so buy an extra set of wheels through Levittown and use those for this new set of tires so you don’t have to deal with mounting and balancing.
as far as size, I don’t see a reason for going slightly smaller than oem size. If you’re worried about wet performance with the 4s l would look at other tires but in the correct size. I don’t think going down to something like 285/295 is going to provide all that much difference in wet traction compared to 305/315.

I love my 4s tires. But as soon as the road temps hit the 50s they get slippery. My rears are on the last 3rd of the tread.

Yes, traction control keeps it in order. But make a dicey move and the car could get out of hand.

That's here in Houston. I would think in NY you would need at least some all seasons.

The 4s are summer tires just like the Cup2s.

I have also heard running summer tires under 40 degrees can damage the rubber compound, cause cracks etc..

Actually you are right about that summer vs all weather/season. Pilot All season 4s the same size would be better. As for tire damage I think the rating is actually lower, atleast for sport cup 2s, down to 20 degrees with probably an engineering buffer. I wouldnt use down to those levels but 40 is okay in an emergency.

HP on order here. Purchased 19x10s yesterday for a square setup. Going to pair them with 285/35/19 Michelin 4A/S.

I hope to use the HP wheels/tires during peak Summer. Otherwise, the A/S. Car will be stored after first snow and until Spring.

Regarding 4s in the colder temperatures, tire damage is one concern, but many have commented on lack of traction in colder temperatures. Like driving on "hockey pucks".

If you plan on keeping the stock HP rims, I think you will have problems finding an A/S type tire to fit the 19x11 rim?

IMO, 19x10 with A/S all around allows for a hassle-free setup you can DD while saving the original rims.

Unfortunately the max size of the All season 4s is 285. Now it's a question of should I go 275/30 front and 285/30 rear, or 285 all around. Fit wise I think 285 on 11 wide is doable. But maybe I should go 35 aspect since they aren't as wide as 305-315

I had 285/35/19 on my last GT on a square setup with 19X10's and it worked out well. I think they'll fit on 11 inch widths with a slight stretch. 305 would probably be better for 11 inch width but you said that's not an option.

In order to maintain tire diameter you need to go to 35 series if going from a 315 to a 285.

Same situation here, HP on order. I plan to use SVE 19x10's with 285 DWS 06's as the daily and cold weather setup. The HP wheels will be for autocross and hot summer-may put PS4's on or something more competitive. The car will not be driven in the snow unless there is no other option.

I'm running a square set up with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 255/40ZR19W on 19 x 9 Ebony Black wheels from 2018 GT Premium PP. Staying with the narrower width reduces the risk of piling the snow/slush in front of the tires.

Got my wheels but now seeing that 285 tires on 11in wide wheels causes excessive stretching of the tire. Need an all season/weather that goes to 295 or higher
