Occasionally the engine light comes on
For instance today in a drive in rain
Goes off after next drive
Car seems fine but very annoying. Any thoughts

Get a code scanner. Could be a million different things. If you get a code scanner you will see what issue is popping up.

I think some auto parts stores will do it for free.

Could be a lot of things (misfire, overheating, bad sensors, etc.). Go get the codes checked and you will narrow down your issue!

Just Google ODBII scanner.......Ebay, Amazon. Or just take it to a Ford dealer and they'll do it.

Try getting the DTC using either of these methods based on which dash cluster is in the vehicle. You don't need a code scanner to grab codes, you can do it via the Engineer Test Mode:


If you have a 2015-2020+ with the ANALOG gauge cluster, you should be able to enter the “Engineer Test Mode”.
