Buy some isoheet and pour it in the gas tank after refueling. Probably some water in your injectors so it’ll clean it out. Don’t gas up at cheap places. A lot of gas stations use the same vendors. Stick with shell and chevron for quality gas.

Towing your car to the dealer because of a check engine light is wild to me!

Lol very wild to me too. 1 misfire can happen. I'd be worried if it were multiple at a time and the car ran strange.

So rodents eat thru a couple of spark plug wires etc. causing the check engine light and resulting damage. Appreciate the interest (most) and constructive ideas. Case closed.

Umm, the car doesn't have spark plug wires. I'm guessing you mean coil harness wires, or injector wires?
How did they repair the wiring? A repair of individual wires or a new harness. I think I'd want a new harness.

those are the dealerships words... they also provided photos. The repair was close to $500.00 and car runs great so that's that

Ugh...got this dreaded light as well. Just brought it in for NYS inspection 2 weeks ago and only drove it a handful of times since then. Installed a catch can and replaced the dirty air filter (double checked that). Just ordered the SC301 OBD2 Scanner to see whats up.

Go to a parts store and find out instantly. They can all scan for codes.

So, dealer tech says catalytic converter efficiency below threshold triggering the check engine light. Checking with Ford to see if it's covered under current certified gold pre owned coverage. I also have the extended protection plan through Ford sooooo fingers crossed. I ordered that scanner tool so i'll post what the code is as well.

Thanks! Tool came back with P0430 code (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2). I did a search on it on here and saw some posts advising it could be the sensor that's faulty and not the catalytic converter. I only have 27k (6k of it is mine). I'll bring it up with them and see their thoughts on it. Tool is pretty handy though for a novice user.
