Covert Ford in Austin, TX has a Mach 1 marked up $10k over MSRP. Are other dealers trying the same crap? I will be watching to see how long it sits on the lot.

As a Challenger owner - what are your thoughts on the car in general, and this one in particular? I've been looking for something to enjoy for the rest of the summer till (if?) my Mach 1 arrives.

The Challenger has its strength and weakness like any other car. I'm 6 ft 3 230 lb so interior space was a strong consideration for me. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how much interior room the Mustang had for being dimensionally a much smaller car than the challenger. In the end what sold me on the Challenger was the humongous amount of torque that the 392 produces whether six-speed manual or automatic. I'm normally a manual transmission guy but the A8 automatic in the Challenger is fabulous and quick. So I think the Challenger is a big brute that does a lot of things well and even for a a 4200 lb car it handles its heft very well. Certainly good enough on the streets and I don't track the car. I think it is a well executed design overall. As for that scat pack you're looking at I love the color combo and the six-speed manual and that seems to be a pretty fair price. Although I don't have the Shaker option on mine I'm a huge fan of it I think it looks retro to the max. If I had to nitpick on the Mach 1 and it would just be one nitpick I wish it had the Shaker to complete the look I think it would look tremendous on the Mach one.

I've seen ADM's on the Mach here on Long Island as high as $20,000 over sticker. Most dealers out here are $5 to $10K over. I was lucky and found a dealer not far from me who sold it to me for MSRP. With car shortages the way they are right now I wouldn't expect the ADM"s to go away any time soon. Dealers are charging over sticker on mostly all their cars.

I got lucky and bought my explorer ST back in May just before the chip shortage got really bad and started to affect inventories at the dealers. Not only did they have a good selection to choose from, but I also got the available rebates and x-plan.

When you look at the windows stickers for this Mach 1 Premium with handling package and this Camaro SS 1LE, it's really hard to pick out any major functional differences between the two cars other than the styling/visibility and the $10,000 price difference. Given the well-documented good performance of the Camaro, I can understand why some people think the Mach 1 is a rip-off. (Still ticks me off that this premium HP car was built June 28 while my car and many other customer orders are still hanging in cyberspace.)

It's true the difference is 10k but they are apples and oranges. The wheel and tire differences alone represent several thousand dollars. Still though, good point. The Mustang is more money, it's also much cooler!

Don't get me wrong, I still have the Mach on order, just trying to see both sides of the debate.

In the Camaro's favor. You can buy cup2 takeoffs frequently on this site, for cheap. People jettison them because they are a STUPID tire to put on a oem for street use. The ford wheels are heavy vs actual forged wheels from GM that cost an easy 2 grand to source separately.

If you pay attention to the details the M1 is a decidedly lousy deal. Sure it may look better even with the big penis sticker on the hood but that's cosmetics, not engineering supremacy or content for money.

I needed the car with the big penis sticker. How else am I supposed to compensate when I’m not driving my lifted truck?

Well, the 21's having that psychological 10 horsepower advantage is also one of the unknowns that happened.

not fair, no one could have anticipated the Wuhan response. We'll talk again in 2023/4 once Camaro is back to full-on production.
If...😂

From a model standpoint, yes. But a ZL1 doesn't cost that much more than a Mach 1
I would be interested in a ZL1 if they cost about the same as a Mach 1. Around here used ZL1s with 10,000 or more miles are still $10k more than a Mach 1. I see a new ZL1 near me for $78K. $20k is a HUGE difference in price.

But I do agree with all the people saying the Mach 1 is too expensive. Mustang prices have gone up way too much in the last 5 years. They aren't a performance bargain any more like they used to be.

My issue with the Mach 1 was that I can get the ZL1 1LE for not too much more and the performance of the ZLE exceeds the mach 1 greatly. I would pick a Mach 1 over a SS 1LE on looks alone but the Camaro is really really good. I drove one on the street and on the track and its a great platform.
