Last I checked, the First Amendment IS public policy. But I know there won't be any convincing you despite the clarity of the text of our founding documents. As federal judges have ruled, you can't just put the Constitution aside when there is a "public health crisis" that 96% of all people survive even counting the high risk pool, and the pure stupidity of putting COVID patients in nursing homes within that statistic, but carry on.

In case you missed it:

Constitution of United States of America 1789

Amendment 1

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
How did we go from mufflers, to the very real global pandemic, to some kind of Constitutional rights manifesto?
Religion has nothing to do with public policy. It’s a right granted by the constitution in this country. Same as your right to say what ever you want without filter. If you can justify in your mind keeping liquor stores open but not churches. Maybe you bought into a fairytale agenda that was being pushed? And before you say anything else stupid. No I’m not religious. And yes I’ve been vaccinated.
This goes for you too.

Really dude. 50 state compliance most definitely applies to Canada as we base our automotive standards solely on American standards. Except our speeds/distance must have km/h along side the mph.
Cool. I'm assuming the "50 state" is mostly the general federal ones and not California's which some of it is really crazy. Probably why I'd never live there.

Well you should be armed with plenty of information on how to handle your muffler ticket. I doubt anyone at this point can ad anything constructive. So I will simply say good luck with your court case. (Or you know your in the wrong with a much louder than stock exhaust with open headers). And you should probably just pay the fine. But either way report back on how this plays out. I’m done with dead horse.

Yeah, I'm over it. Where'd we leave off? Court date? Plan of action?
14th June, plan of action is:

-Show the law the officer told me to break to write me a ticket
-Explain that the exhaust is 50 state legal and meets California's 95db limit
-Ask to show how the officer could possible differentiate what's loud vs factory based on just hearing it without using any equipment to test it
-Why nobody asked me if I was drinking while at a 'DUI CHECKSTOP'
- and whatever else those in this thread suggested.

Cheers.

I remember explaining carb exemption and 50 state legal modifications to a cop tha tpulled me over and his reply was "it's still modification to factory equipment which is illegal". I signed the ticket and just paid the bail. This was before I was challenging every ticket I received, which I do now.

Well, cops routinely give speeding tickets based on their estimate of the speed. They are trained for it and you will not beat it in court
Some department train their officers the same way regarding noise
No sure in Canada
Anyhow, loud exhaust is a lack of respect for other people and there is no excuse for it pass the age of acne and pimples
Yes you can, and I have. In writing, without showing up at court.

-Showed a video of the wife and I driving during normal traffic having a normal voice level conversation that was repeatedly interrupted by very loud large trucks and buses.
-Show the law the officer told me to break to write me a ticket

Prosecutor objected for relevance on the 'asked me to break the law to write me a ticket", judge allowed it. Scolded the prosecutor but stopped short of blaming the officer. She agreed it was a noise tax. Ticket tossed, no court fees, in and out in like 20 mins.
