Hello all! Hope you are all staying safe!
I've recently been looking into boosting my car. A 17 GT. Honestly, turbos and centrifugal superchargers didn't really catch my eye as I'm more of a low RPM driver. So, I've been looking into PD SCs.
I'm undecided between VMP Gen2R, VMP Gen3R, Edelbrock 2650, Whipple Gen4 or Gen5. I'm looking to make ~650 wheel horsepower with 93 and some room to grow later on when I have money to invest in a full fuel system.
I am planing on upgrading the oil pump gears, because it'll be a lot easier to do it when everything is taken apart, rather than doing it down the line and I don't want to risk the stock ones breaking on me.
I will be taking it to be installed in a shop. I will be getting a dyno tune.
Anyone have any experiences with these? What other mods should I consider doing?
Based of what i have read in your posts i think the Whipple will suit you and your goals better. I personally run a gen3 on my 2017 and made 725 on 91/Boostane and 820 on 110. With that said, the new Gen5 is a complete redesign of the head units while the gen4 is a change of hr rotor pack like Whipple did from the gen 2>3. If you buy a complete kit it has everything you need and even comes with a Whipple tune that is extremely customizable and user friendly. However, Lund or Palm Beach Dyno are great places to go if the Whipple route isn’t what you’re looking for. If you’re going with a Whipple setup opt for the stage 2 right out of the gate as it comes with the bigger Throttle body, injectors, etc. We can assist you here @LethalPerformance and go over some setups with you and see what we can do.
