Everyone's an expert on what "Ford should have....". Frankly, I think they've done a pretty good job here. Of course everyone wants a GT500 spec car for the price of the base model Ecoboost - reality - not going to happen.

It could have well just been a sticker pack/made over Bullitt - call it Mach1 and there you go. But they've taken it a few steps further and given us a much improved Bullitt if you like.

I'll admit I did get hung up on the report of 525hp but I think that was a pipe dream and a lot to ask from the factory, warranted 5.0 mill. (yeah, yeah, easy to achieve with aftermarket tune, blah blah, blah).

The move to the Tremec was a big surprise plus all the other Shelby bits proves they were serious about elevating this car to be the pinnacle of the 5.0 range.

Also, what an excellent base package if you want to tune it, supercharge it or whatever - solid foundation right there.

Price will definitely be a factor.....but if they get this wrong I guess it wont sell. It wont steal GT350 or GT500 customers but it might tempt GT customers to spend more which is exactly what they want to do.

Time will tell but I suspect the people at Ford are not complete idiots and know a thing or two about the auto business. (After all, the reason any of you are reading this is because of them......right?)

I created a quick comparison of the 18 and 21 frontend. Perspectives are not matching perfectly, but close enough.

It's pretty interesting how many small changes were made that really improve the look, so it's much more than just changing the triangles to better air ducts. The upper grille has a slightly different shape on the bottom, that is more curved. The turn signal housings were moved lower, so they don't line up with the bottom of the upper grille anymore. Also the housings are not "stanced" into the body anmore, they are integrated completely in the air ducts. The whole molded bodycolored part above the splitter is also gone and replaced with just the splitter (the handling package in this pic has two splitters) which also rasies up on the wheel arches.

To me this is a huge improvement overall. To me the 18 refresh had from a visual standpoint too much weigth on the upper grille and the wide lower grille gave a bit of a catfish look. Really love what they have done with the Mach 1

For me, the '18+ can look awkward in photographs from certain angles...........but in the metal I really like the way it looks. But the Mach 1 front end blows it away. I can't wait to see one in person!

I believe the Mach 1 will in the flesh make the regular GT look a bit(quite alot) pale.
It it quite evident from the picture that front end is much more aggressive and irl it will be even more obvious. Just check the pic below.

Just the PP2 splitter on the PP1 makes much aggressive. Add to that front end the rear spoiler, diffuser, exchaust it will be very aggressive looking

It's funny that in the picture below also the head-light is eurospec :D

Huge let down.

1) looks like a cheap mismatched aftermarket exterior kit.
2) the engine is basically just the Bullit engine. Power levels are nothing to write home about.
3) it can’t make up its mind whether it’s retro or modern. Ends up just looking confused. it’s unattractive. Even the regular GT looks better.

It should also sell well in other markets outside US where we didn't get the GT350 or GT500 such as UK.

Well for me I can write some nonsense for free. The more I look at the Mach 1, I would wanna sport some KC Daylighter Smiley Face decals in those inserts just for fun.

From a motor1.com article

“When you look through the heritage, we thought the automatic worked better with the Mach 1 nomenclature,” said Widmann. “This is a global product, so we’ll hit almost 50 countries with this car. From the engine perspective, that was one thing in a Boss world that we’d have wanted in the 525-hp range, which we didn’t go into in the Mach 1. We wanted to use the motor from the Bullitt in an application for the automatic.”

Most likely from homologation perspective the for other markets than US it will require less paperwork utilizing the Bullitt motor I would assume.

I think the new Mach 1 looks very good. I think I was hoping for a different hood. I’m on the fence on the front clip since ai think the large bottom brake ducts look like a Kia SUV. But then again it give it a tough look which I like. I’m not going to buy one since it only make sense to me if I bought the added performance package and the dollars then make me look at other cars also. But I can see it selling well.

how many of the auto lovers who are complaining that the HP isn't on the auto really read the spec sheet?

What are you lacking?

You have the sway bars front and rear, same brakes, and same suspension. The only thing I see is a Gurney flapped pedestal wing, front splitter, a set of wide tires that no one really wants (Cup 2s) and and a suspension tune . Yes, this had to be pointed out to me. You are telling me it will be so hard to buy a wing and wheels to match what the manual HP offers? Please really read this. Is all you are complaining about is that you cannot buy it directly from a dealer? So many of the posts here all talk about modifying the car anyway. Does it really matter then if it came with the package code for the HP? Buy it without the wing and add your own and your own wheels. Save the smaller ones for your winter tires or as your daily driver while the wide ones will be summer or drag/track focused set. If you really go to a track or strip you will need another set of tires anyway. Big deal!! I think you will be able to buy, aftermarket, these items for far less than the price of the package. I'll bet that as a drag car, the suspension tune will not make a hill of beans difference and most of the auto guys talk about dragging the car anyway. Why would you pay for something that probably won't change a thing if you are at the drag strip? I believe the wing and splitter will make a difference at a track but be nothing more than added weight for a drag strip.

Maybe they are offering a exclusive package on the manual to help manual sales. Like it has been said, manuals are going out but there is still enough desire to warrant some companies to still make them instead of sending manual customers elsewhere. I would be one of them. I would not own a Ford today if I could not get it in a manual. I so much more enjoy driving a manual that the boring auto. Having an exclusive package for us, and a track one at that, is awesome! They hear our desire to still drive a manual.

For all you, I want the A10 to go faster fans. Why are you all not putting in sequential gearboxes then? We all agree the DST is faster than the A10 but the sequential is still faster.

Keep your complaints about ride and traffic to yourself. True driver enthusiasts - people who love to drive not just love cars - will look past traffic or move to a place where they can drive. I live on Long Island and frequent NYC traffic. It is a bear but driving is fine even in those conditions. What makes it even more tolerable is that I can find windows of time to just drive. Even NYC does not have perpetual stop and go traffic. I really doubt anywhere had that all day long. I enjoy my drive to the corner store, to work, to pick up my daughter and all the other necessary drives and , I especially enjoy when we just go for a drive just for the sake of driving. If I want to, I can shift less than a dozen times, leave it in 6th and just cruise for a long while. I do not need a manual for that but it makes the drive more pleasurable. What benefit is the auto when you rarely change gears on long highway drives? I guess we each can tolerate different things and driving a manual in traffic is not really as bad as so many other things like bad drivers, driving while using cell phones and what not.

Stop complaining about what you don't have and see what you do have. With all the aftermarket mods available, you can do so much more than Ford will ever offer. Any Mustang is a great foundation to go to so many places - both driven or engineering wise.

Just noticed something... Mach-E GT basically has the same frontend as Mach 1.
