Yes it is the alternative to taking the dash pieces out to remove the speaker or unplug it. So yeah no sound after the clip. I'm not an audiophile, so my description of the center speaker is raw. It is overbearing on the rest of the sound system. Getting rid of it entirely really does improve the sound. You can find more info in this thread.Interested in this. Can you expand on this a little bit?, will this make anything unheard through the center speaker?, why does this improve the sound quality?, and which wire exactly should be cut?
