I was told that a GT500 2020, after making the oil change at aproximatelly 1,000 miles, noticed that both; the oil filter was collapsed and also the plastic black housing was a bit of heat deformed.......
His car is below the 300 production number.......
He has NOT made any performance upgrades yet......
Has anyone heard anything similar or heard about engine problems besides the knock rod or the Vegas guy with the check engine light at 45 miles???
Has there been a recall or are there any "secrets" out there with engine problems on the first production Engines?

When you talk about production number, are you talking about a VIN or a chassis number?

Saw this as well, could be the non reinforced filter
I think that is an aftermarket oil filter.
Here is the MOTORCRAFT FL2087 filter. Pictures supplied by @Epiphany, Tob.

I like to disassemble things.
It kills me every time I see a thread like this. Sorry OP, that picture only tells half the story. It would really helped to have known more about the filter as well as the housing (no photo of it distorted?).

OP, who told you of this happening? I only ask because it'd be nice to be 100% certain that this was a GT500 (and not a GT350 for example). I say this because Ford updated the cartridge filter used in the GT350 and I'm not talking about the change that was made from the metal canister to what is currently used. The first filters Ford used were FL-2062 and they didn't have much internal reinforcement beyond a few plastic ribs. These deformed exactly the way the one did in the photo in the first post. They looked like this internally...

Ford upgraded these filters not long ago with the internal screening and perforated mesh you can see in the photos Earl linked. The new filter is FL-2087 and is much improved...

Running the OP's photo through Photoshop doesn't help much. Rotating, cropping, enlarging, and sharpening still doesn't give enough clarity but it does look like there may be a perforated steel core in there...

Tob: I think what you may be seeing is just CCD noise but that's just a guess based on the image. Not much could be done as you said but you can see the grain a little better in this one where I backed off the NR a bit.

But for SURE your hypothesis sounds quite likely especially since they looked the same and you know the cause for the deformation on the 350 filter. I had the same thought as Earl, aftermarket filter cuz it sure didn't look like the 2087 I used.

I have two 2087 filters and both have the medal interior insert per @Epiphany pic above.

I can confirm 100% its a GT500.

Im.trying to get more details, but my relationship to this source is not the greatest

This and the amount of particles guys are finding at their first oil change is all the more reason to swap that sucker out at a hundred or so miles.
