First GT500 vs C8 drag race.

Before all the comments I should just point out that, we all know the GT500 is faster and we all know the C8 is the base model. No need to harp on it. I was impressed with the onboard video in the C8 at the 10 min mark, really cool feature.

Stangmode put the seats back in the car so he was in the 10.70s, C8 did 11.50s first time to the track. It’s clearly a low 11 sec car in good conditions.

Truth be told, the guy also is wet behind the ears with the car, clearly is still learning the car and drag racing. Stangmode was just as wet when he first dragged. But @obspsd is right, probably the base will run between 11.1 to 11.6 with the right driver, stock.

I would have thought the GT500 would have ran a little better with weather at Atco Raceway today.
The Density Altitude looked pretty fair today.

Good video of the race we all have been waiting for. Maybe it's just me but I'm not very impressed with the C8. I thought this car would just launch effortlessly, but it struggled to get 1.8s, the 119 - 120 mph trap, that is 2018+ Mustang GT trap speeds. This was on a prepped strip in very good conditions, I would have expected 10.90s - 11:00s @ 123+. Also can't blame the fuel as race fuel was added.

Times for the C8 need to get much better or there will be a lot of upset buyers I suspect.

The C8 has already gone 11.1 in one of the magazine tests, so I'm sure we'll see more low 11 passes. And I see no reason for buyers to be upset with a $60k mid engine car, naturally aspirated, and running low 11's. Anyone that wants one should know what they're getting as far as straight line speed goes. It's actually faster than I expected, based off where the C7 was in base form.
