Not taking it to the bank, but thought it worthy of sharing.

I watched it yesterday and I think it’s fake news.
Something is a little off I think.

Maybe a bit more than a hair, Tom. 3940 + (6.3 x 10gal) = 4003lbs.

Keller: What seemed off to you? It looked legit to me.

Hmm, and I even used a calculator. Now that fuel weight per gallon is summer or winter? I'm not going to watch it again to get the scale weight..... just gonna have to trust you.

Now I'm curious. How about taking that shiney new car and putting it on a scale so we can get a new revised weight for the track pack. Dont forget to fill the tank to full......

Tomasino: I just did a search for local scales and found what appears to be a free, public one at a truck stop on the other side of town.

Und zo, I'll keep your request in mind next time I'm in the area with her but the thing is, that scale location isn't in the best part of town and getting in and out with high entrance curbs, looks dicey from Mr. G's maps. :-)

Seriously though, summer or winter fuel weight? Figure standard day would be my guess but Mr. G tells me a gallon of gasoline weighs 6.3lb/gal. So, with a 16-gallon tank and the guy saying he estimated that it had six gallons in it, then that's 63 pounds missing, right?

It was a loaded car with base seats and technology package.
Every other GT500 that has been on a scale has weighed more.
Either they are all wrong or this ones off.

Take the time to make a video for YouTube and you don’t even make sure it’s full of fuel to get a accurate curb weight. It’s a joke.

KB, yes, seriously. A gallon of fuels weight varies based upon density. Colder temps, more density, more weight per gallon. That's why we fly aircraft in pounds, not gallons. Energy per pound is consistent unlike energy per gallon when the density varies.

I believe the point is probably moot however because we are not talking about a large total difference in weight, especially when talking about 10 gallons.

I agree with Keller, every other 500 weighed a lot more and this one is magically lighter. Something is off.

If you weighing your car is any risk at all, I wouldnt do it. Your biggest concern is your CF wheels. Any roads with any kind of loose pebbles will eventually get a rock between your calipers and drum (that's bad). The R has a small clearance, the 500 is worse.

Tom: Yes, with a couple three decades in the business, I know fuel density is temperature-dependent. My point was, the 6.3 is probably the density at Standard temp.

I'll try and get mine over to those scales this week and if I do, you guys will be the first to know. :-) I may take a spin over there in the truck first to scope things out before taking the Mustang.

And roger on the caliper clearances and small stones. Been worried about that since you first mentioned it. <smile> Thanks.

Silver paint, in order to give it depth, is very heavy. Oxford White, such as my own car, is extremely light as it has zero depth and as such offers the potential for it to be the color of the fastest 2020 on planet earth. Now that the secret is out just watch the current global records tumble as a new king emerges from the ashes.

Hang on just a second, Tob...you are forgetting that Ford spent gajillions on cutting-edge technology to create Rapid Red with SUPER light molecules! It is by far the lightest paint color. :-)
