Haha, I know that you know I’m only messing. I’m about as humble as they get and I don’t have mustang ego.

I would have liked the KR name more, but I would not have wanted to swap the factory blower to get it. I’m more than happy with the peasant SE
Here you go. .99 cent store. Double sided tape. :giggle:

Base is the Trim or Model with no options. Is a bit more convoluted with the Mustang, as the "Base" Mustang would be an Ecoboost without any options.

Then you have each 'Trim" of the model. Was the same with the Bullitt and MACH 1. So a 'base' GT500 is the car without any of the options i.e. 950A equipment group, Handling pkg, Carbon Fiber Track pkg.

Regardless it is still a GT 500.

This thread reminds me of every P-car show my P-car owning friends would drag me too - and would have to be forced to park way way way away from the show...

No matter how many options - it is just a Ford Mustang :cwl:
Yep, the P car crowd can be rough, but that's mainly the non air cooled crowd. Most of the air cooled crowd (other than the Singer owners) are a great group of average guys and gals who love to drive and wrench on their cars. But douchy types are everywhere. Just gotta ignore them.

There's an OEM performance upgrade to a GT500, which is obviously called the GT500 CFTP. People use the term "base" to refer to a GT500 without the CFTP. The technology package or handling package cars are still generally referred to "base" GT500s since the distinction is clearly CFTP. It's pretty simple, and I agree that a base GT500 isn't a base level performance car, obviously. I think if I had a GT500 it would annoy me a little bit that my 760 hp monster was referred to as base anything.

Now, interestingly, with the Camaro ZL1, no one says "base" ZL1, it's just "ZL1" when referring to a Camaro ZL1 without the 1LE package. If it's a ZL1 with the 1LE package, then people call it one of two things: ZL1 1LE, or usually when typing online: ZLE, which is shorthand for ZL1 1LE and distinguishes it from the ZL1.

My 2020 GT500 had Recaros and handling pack so by some logic not a base car????
I do not want a CFTP car rear wing, but I want the carbon rims. Since the handling package car is no more, the want for the rims out weighs the dislike of the giant rear wing.

So is the GT500 CFTP HE a base car???? Does the HE rate to be called an upgrade? It's only paint and stripes but it is an option.

I think as has been stated several times if you have a GT500 with NO option packages, you have a base. If you have any of the options you do not. But does it really matter?

No, no it does not. Just playing around with the semantics of it all.

says the guy who doesn't have a CFTP. You are right, it doesn't matter. If someone wants the extra options and they can pay for it, then why shouldn't they have it. Elitist? not really, just someone who can afford it should have it if they want it..
You mean finance it?

There are just two versions of the 2020-2022 GT500.
  • One with a small wing
  • One with a big wing
They are both automatics, so by definition "base" girl's cars! When Ford comes out with a 6-Speed Manual that will be true option. lol

(I kid of course since this thread is one of those types of threads. Please don't ban me 😜)
