Thanks again man . I really appreciate it .

It is quite a deal as that combo is about $1900 on other websites most of the time.

Too late for this build now but not too soon to start gathering parts to rebuild the one coming out ..... got to always have a spare . Lol
You fact checking me?? lmaoooo

It's a great deal. Those Mahle pistons are high dollar stuff... they are ~$1000 by themselves at most other shops. Nice part is they were specifically engineered for the Gen 3 spray bore lining which i will be using.

Great deal on the rods too. The cheap ass in me almost reused my factory rods (its my opinion they are good to 1000) but common sense took over when i found the ~$750 deal on the Manley H Tuffs.

LOL... not fact checking you at all . Just wanted to get in on the deal but the search function on that website sucks .
I almost changed my mind on the “5.2” since based on those prices it’s costing me $1000 more than building a Gen 3 coyote, even with the deal I got on the voodoo pistons /Manley rods and using a coyote crank -

My builder is probably sick and tired off all my questions and indecisiveness but looking at the 2 blocks again I think there may additional strength to the predator block due to the “additional material “ where the coyote has “holes “ ?

I already bought the 5.2 block anyway and while I could use it to build a FP instead since I already have the crank , I am just going to stick with my original plan (I will still build the FP but later )

I can still get in on the great deal though by getting the rods/pistons to build my current block after I swap in the 5.2 ($1000 for the extra displacement and maybe increased strength is not too bad ).
Hopefully that block is reusable when it comes out , but even if it’s not , the price on a new Gen 3 coyote block from summit is not bad (another great tip from you).

Thanks again.

Heck yeah! Shit.. we need to all be going to you for info at this point. They ride you've taken with these cars has undoubtedly led to a ton of experience.

Lots of good options out there for us, thats for sure.

I’ve heard that some gen2 blocks were cracking cylinders at 750+. Has anyone broken a gen3 block, aside from factory defective ones?

Some of the blocks were cracking in the valley around the knock sensor bosses (where the short 11mm head studs end ).

It happened to me with a non sleeved block but can also happen with sleeves .

The fix for the 15-17 blocks was converting to the longer 12 mm head studs and a brace (MMR sell them ).
It looks like the 18+ blocks addressed both issues since they use the longer 12 mm bolts and have a “cast in brace” - just like the gen2/3 voodoo/predator blocks . The ford racing site conveniently left out that info on their website describing the Gen 3 coyote (you can see it in the pics/ ) but includes that when describing the new generation 5.2 blocks ....

As previously said probably in part to justify the huge price difference.
Lol

Just to double-check with you experts: Are the latest Gen3 blocks (like gimmie11s’ above) compatible with my Gen2 heads etc. I am planning a spare sleeved short-block build and want to go for the best possible base...excluding the MMR billet block of course...

Gimmie, nice block btw ;) Would you mind sharing the part-number for that one, please?

Some have said the strongest block would be a sleeved voodoo .

Cheers. Yes, I noticed some of your troubles :(

Hence me planning a spare engine build to go with my VMP Gen3R, but I will drop CR to ~9.0 - 9.5:1 to make it reliable at 1,000whp. Can be done with careful planning, but she will be sleeved for sure.

I might check on part-numbers and availability from MMR, will probably also get the rods and pistons from them. But will do my own build/assembly anyway, will find a good local shop to line-bore the block if required, as well as balance the rotating assembly...

Very nice . Are you going to be using top end
rods ? I beams ?
If not , the deal that @gimmie shared on the H tuff rods /Mahle pistons can’t be beat . I got in on that as I plan to rebuild my stock block when I swap in the 5.2 .
I am sure they will be another sale before Christmas.
