But there will be a KR to contend with then.
Is Ford making a GT500KR? You seem to be the only one talking about this and not offering up much info.

on the Mustang side, I think a number of us are so used to the Corvette simply being a completely different class of car that we are amazed when the hottest, newest, much dreamed about mid engine vette finally appears in reality - and gets beat by a GT500.

now this is an FI vs NA comparison which normally isn’t fair in my opinion. But it is two different classes of car, one of which is a two seat platform and also has the holy grail engine layout for the best traction and weight distribution.

so that evens the playing field quite a bit.

would be different if it was a Camaro SS 1LE having to fight against a supercharged GT500 - or a GT350 having to fight against a ZL1. Same type of car, but FI just killing the NA car.

This is a sports car/supercar vs a pony car/sports car.

kind of like David and Goliath. You expect Goliath is going to pummel David. But when David wins... whoa. It’s a big deal.

all that said, it’s your basic underdog/Rocky story.
It's obvious you think the GT500 is the 'underdog' here. Exactly how is the car that cost 15k more and is up 260hp the underdog?

it is just getting started, both trims of the GT500 were tested the GS, Z06, and ZR1 haven’t even released yet. The GT500 is beating a base 65k car with a Z51 package on a clean pavement “track” by 2-3 tenths and the GT500 was at a NHRA drag strip. The fact is, when the faster models come out you’ll be back to singing the can’t compare it to a Vette song again. Same guys that compare a 65k GT350R to a 40k camaro SS 1LE. The GT500 is great. But “crushed” is not even close to the right word lol.. but what ever you have to tell yourself. It’s always fun watching the fanbois on each side.
And wait till they go head to head on a Road Course - the Vette will be considerably faster that the GT500. I'll remember this thread next year if Ford has the guts to put the GT500 at Lightning Lap. Notably, the base GT350 was never submitted.

I'm sure there are quite a few owners within 2 hours of VIR who would stump up to let the mag run their car in exchange for track time of their own.

it’s the underdog because of its 4-seat pony car platform. Even if you remove 2 seats from the back it’s still a four seat platform. The vette is a two seater from the ground up. It’s always been a sports car. Now it has gained the layout GM has dreamed of for decades. That’s an uphill battle for an Everyman pony car four seat platform that starts as a Sub 30k four cylinder car it ever there was one. The 500 is punching well above it’s weight and is really doing a remarkable job.

It costs more because ford figures they can charge more for the faster and more powerful car. And GM doesn’t want to look bad with a more expensive vette getting beaten by a Mustang.

KR? I’m not the only one talking about it. There will be one. It will be phenomenal.

I'll be impressed if it breaks 2:50. If it breaks 2:45 that will be astounding and puts it in very serious company.

Telling lies and altering other people’s posts isn’t helping your credibility.

just another free life lesson courtesy of M6G.
The only one telling lies here is you living in your own little world

LOL. No. I leave that to you and your group.

You want to pretend that if you say something that it magically becomes true. Sorry man. this world is full of harsh realities. Sometimes they go your way, sometimes not. But when they don't, the answer is not to pretend otherwise.

You mean like talking about the KR when nobody other than you has made a single mention of it? You literally just wrote a post to describe your own postings.

Roadandtrack just posted the 2020 performance car of the year article. They tested a fully loaded 3lt Z51 package equipped C8 around the track. It put down better times than a GTR Nismo and 911 Carrera S same day comparison. This is with lots of understeer and braking issues. I say depending on the track with limited straights a GT500 even with the track package can have a hard time around a track against a base engine C8. That 265 extra hp may not really help. Some GT500 reviews mention the weight being felt around corners. For comparison the new GTR Nismo weights 3865 lbs with awd. I don’t see a 4200 lbs rwd car handling like a featherweight boxer. It all comes down to straights where GT500 will shine.

A miata could whip both around a small, tight enough track, as could the GT350. On a tight enough track, a C7 corvette would destroy the C8. Tests have already shown the C8 to be less capable in the corners. It's main advantage is it's ability to put it's power down coming out of the corners due to it's weight distribution.

Around most major tracks, the GT500 is going to flat out destroy the C8. It has been compared to the Porsche GT3 and Viper ACR (by reviewers) in it's track prowess. Remember this snippet from Jason Cammisa who was part of that Road and Track article you posted?

"And around a racetrack, the Corvette wouldn’t have a chance. Not in speeds, laptimes, or handling behavior. I know, I've driven one. But that’s still a comparison test that needs to be done — because if initial impressions are to be trusted, the real performance bargain for 2020 isn’t the C8 Corvette, it’s the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500."
