Sequential shifter on a Tremec T56 M XL

Hello Guys,
Have anyone any experience on or considered using a (mechanical) sequential shifter on their manual gearbox?

I am planning doing a replacement of my M82 to a Tremec T56 Magnum XL, was wondering how well these work with a Tremec.

edit: Bremer is another (more expensive, but possibly better?) unit ->

I get the whole sequential part of it in the shifter, but what happens to the clutch pedal? Do you still have to use it every time?

A sequential shifter should eliminate most chances of missing a gear. You still have to use the clutch, but only making one movement of the shifter for every gear change. No more navigating the gate, the shifter does it for you.

Can you change through several gears in one shot, or do you have to engage every gear say going down?

By that I mean, can you disengage the clutch while in 6th, downshift 3 times to 3rd and then engage the clutch?

Very good question! I'm not sure, but I'll try to find out.

Yes, each action results in a shift. You could hold the clutch in and do as many actions as you want up or down to get in whatever gear you want. Thats's where a gear readout gauge comes in handy.

The shifter I'm looking at can be optioned to include a gear indicator.

This seems to be an odd choice with usage restricted to drag racing in order to minimize throw complications. With the traditional you don't have to look at anything to know what gear you're in. With this you either have to remember/ascertain from speed vs engine RPM or look at an indicator.

Now an actual sequential transmission would be a useful thing.

I don't understand what the difference would be. With a sequential trans, you'd still have to have some type of indicator of what gear you're in or remember it yourself.

A sequential transmission is built radically different from a traditional - you literally can NOT skip gears. All this retrofit is doing is changing an H-pattern into a click-clack toggle at the knob. At the business end it's doing the H-pattern for you.

How is it any more useful?

a sequential transmission is normally smaller, stronger, and vastly reduced part count. It also shifts much faster than the traditional. World Rally etc. use sequential transmissions. Quaife has a few varieties - though not cheap.
