Anyone offer a package that would include everything needed to swap for the XL, or is there a list? Man I can' stand the ratio choices in this MT82..... Then the 3.73's would be fine.

If you price this out with RXT, TOB and clutch line your over $6K...... and loose the wonderful MGW shifter :(

and the nice CF DS if you already have one like some of us do.

I'm good, doubt I'll ever blow up my MT82. If I do then I'll decide between this and beefing up the MT82

So you'd still want to add a clutch. Think I'd want that before a power adder

Sorry for raising this thread from the dead, but I too am considering this swap. I'm about to add a whipple (woot!), and was considering just doing a Mantic twin-disc clutch kit swap in order to handle the power. Seeing as that kit is around $2K already, I'm kind of thinking about just spending the extra 3-4K needed for a full Magnum XL swap instead. Having never driven a car with a Magnum transmission, how is it for a daily? I'm assuming it's obviously better than the OEM Mt82, but I just want to make sure that it is also meant for DD cars (that also see track time/spirited driving) and not just the strip. Thanks for any help and or info.

Daily mine (when its not raining) much nicer to drive IMO. The key to these swaps which a lot of people dont discuss is the different gearing the transmissions have. Its nice to be able to use first gear but with the Magnum or TR6060 3.73's are the minimum gearing that make the tranny work IMO. I went with 4.09's and the seem perfect.

Thanks for the reply, I very much appreciate it! And good to know. I was actually planning on going with some lower gears once I installed the whipple, as I felt like 1st would be useless with my 3.73s and a power adder. I actually like having longer gears with FI (ie I'm already breaking every speed law with my Z06 while only in 3rd haha). So that's good to know! Thanks! :like:

Yes...with 3.73's the Magnum or 6060 (with the 2.97 first gear) 1st would be equivalent to the MT82 with a 3.15.
